Not a very remarkable pic in itself but I just loved the way these pink-edged sycamore seeds or 'helicopters' as we call them, were nestling together in the sunshine.

Layer Marney Tower was mostly built during the reign of King Henry VIII; it was begun in 1518 by Henry, 1st Baron Marney, the king's Lord Privy Seal but never completed. Since his death in 1523, it has been owned by no fewer than eleven different families; the current owners (since 1961) are the Charrington family. Its red brick gatehouse, seen in this photograph, is the tallest of its period in the UK (it reaches a height of 25 metres).

im experimenting with layering my photographs. the base layer is my wide angle capture, and the overlay is a textrure from the same scene. In this case the texture was the very rock (wet and covered in lichen) i was standing on when taking the wide angle image.
Eager to catch the fall colors, we took a week in late autumn and headed to Austria and Italy for a road trip exploring the back roads while chasing creative photography opportunities.

This was dark and hazy (too much), so I adjusted the layers and added a high pass filter to sharpen the details a bit. Added Kim Klassen's February Magic texture at screen blending mode to soften the edges.
I'm STILL looking for a good angle in my town that shows off the wonderful layered mountains but doesn't include all the power lines and crap strewn around. Get too close and some of the layers disappear or blend. Get too far and junk starts to fill the frame. :( This will have to do for now.

The walls of the Potala Palace have for centuries been painted by throwing buckets of paint down from the top of the roof - the walls are simply too high to climb up by ladder. Thick layers of stalactite-like dried paint 'drippings' cover the walls.

From both cols we skied further down (skipping the traverse on the pic) to get more powdery snow for both descents. Perfect choice ;o)
