Late blooming dahlia's in my garden.

Roaming the streets on Mackinac Island last weekend found the Fudge line longe than the Burger line.

Had found this late poppy in Karmiel forest

Amtrak train No. 8, the Empire Builder, rolls along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River about two hours late on July 23, 2017.

The Detroit River in the background is totally free of ice, but this inlet is still frozen enough to walk on.

Church in Rothenburg bathing in late aternoon sunlight. Taken from the nearby summit the Hohe Wand plateau.

An HDR off my front verandah of the late afternoon light.

A duo of "Deathstars" lead the Gary, IN to Centralia, IL shuttle, A408, south past the former IC depot in Mattoon, IL. Aside from the yellow sills and first few freight cars (and likely a depot rehab), hard to tell if this was from 2020 or the late 1990's.

Late afternoon lighting - Taunton, Somerset,UK.

Some shots just need a hint of colour.

Late evening descends on salt flats along the shore of the Great Salt Lake near Magna, Utah.

Korth's Meadow - Iowa

Another light snowfall with some early morning hoarfrost. Setting records for snow totals this winter . . .

Even though we are all looking towards spring, I have to stand and pause, this is still quite mystical.

Sun Peaks ski resort

Kamloops, B.C.

It was about -16 C when I took this shot but it didn't seem to daunt the skiers. There was no wind and the sun was shining. This was the quiet end of the slopes but the main chair lift had a fairly long line-up.

Late summer and there were a lot of migrants in Sussex, the early star being this fabulous Wryneck which stayed at Beachy Head for 3 weeks from 18 August. I really love the detail in their plumage.

A Spotted Flycatcher also at Beachy Head on the same day was similarly cooperative. Further along the South Downs the following day I found a field full of migrants which included redstart, whinchat and wheatear , all relatively uncommon birds in Sussex.

On August 13, 1971, a very late Amtrak Super Chief/El Capitan, Train 18, (with 7 units) makes a station stop at Needles, California. Thunderstorms on the Needles District during the night caused signal problems across the desert, badly delaying the train. Trains 17 and 18 would be renumbered 3 and 4 in November 1971, and the El Capitan name would be dropped two years later. These trains normally passed through Needles in the wee hours of the morning–––Joe McMillan photo.

I probably found this beauty in the backyard just a bit too late. One of the petals was partially wilted and the color somewhat faded also! :) Oh well...

Have a lovely day, everyone...

An exquisitely patterned male Wild Indigo Duskywing Skipper butterfly stands ready to defend his territory and on alert to attract a willing dance partner.

Note: Males (among other features) have hind tibial tufts, or hair-like structures on the rear legs, as indicated.

Not particularly abundant, but becoming more common.

“ Mama I’m so happy to get a name! What’s it going to be Mama? What’s it going to be Mama? What’s it going to be Mama? What’s my name Mama? Mamaaaaa? Mamaaaaa???? Mamaaaaaa what’s my name going to be? Mamaaaaa???????”

Later at night I used my cell to call a friend who is from Pakistan and luves bhangra and asked him to come down to join me at Dundas Square. Initially I had a literally "front row" spot in front of the stage. As I wanted my friend to find me I moved out to the rear area and I connected with him. From that position I decided to take this shot. I kinda like it....but as I had taken many many shots I forgot about this one yesterday ! I have cropped this shot to raise the IT level so to speak :) Swami was composed of 3 desi guys and this girl from the UK. She has a great voice. :)

I'm bored of winter and not taking many photos so here's one taken last September. A lovely honey bee feeding on nemesia flowers, I hope to have both again next year.

A few nights ago, this sudden late glow appeared on the horizon after we had thought it was going to be another dull cloudy sundown. The colour lingered for ages until lights took over and stars appeared.

Connecticut River, Middletown, Connecticut

In perfect form, CP281-08 banks around the old depot at Brookfield, WI during the late hours of the day, in a 3 train afternoon procession that had both mains in use for westbound trains. Special thanks to the birds for this one, I owe you a beer!
