Vegas Rocks! Magazine celebrated its 5 year anniversary in front of the Las Vegas sign on August 11, 2009.

The goal was to break the world record of the most guitarists playing along to Elvis Presley's classic "Viva Las Vegas" in front of the Las Vegas sign.

The publishing queen of rock 'n roll, Sally Steele hosted the event and our own cool Mayor, Oscar Goodman even showed up to play some guitar and sing along with the rockin' Elvis impersonator that also there.

Between There and Vegas

24 hours straight

through and you learn

they play the same 20 oldies

on every FM station

between home and Vegas.

I've done my shift

and stretch out in the back

seat to watch the 2 AM stars

pass over until I drift off

and somewhere past Salt Lake

I wish the roof

were made of glass

so I could count them

all like sheep.

In the blackness on I-84

there are more trucks

than I think I've ever seen

and as their wheels murmur by

I think what fun it would be

to be in a convertible

instead and trade in

the view the new moon

and Venus have for a trucker's

noon view of my tits,

tops down on the way to Vegas.

I've photographed the Golden Goose Gentlemen's Club before. It's interesting that the Fremont Street Experience, which has become a family attraction has a strip club front and center. I guess little boys have to be introduced to the real world somewhere. It's just strikes me as odd that a city that profits from gambling, sex, and sensory titillation hosts PG family attraction in such an open venue.

But if you're an overprotecting parent, here's an interesting story. Several years ago a prominent porn director opened a latex and bondage show called, "Fashionistas." It was the most extreme sexually oriented show to ever hit the Strip. It didn't attract an audience. Why?

The sociologists deemed that sensory overload is so commonplace in Las Vegas, there's very little you can show that's new and titillating. I mean, really, after you've seen the fountains at the Bellagio of the light show at Fremont Street Experience, would you pay $125 to see some hot chicks in latex? Go figure:)

No need to rush to baggage claim and the airport shuttles since it's nearly rush hour on the Strip and traffic isn't moving very fast -- now's a really good time to explore this luxurious and swanky new terminal at McCarran International Airport.

The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is a Las Vegas landmark funded in May 1959 and erected soon after by Western Neon. The sign was designed by Betty Willis at the request of Ted Rogich, a local salesman, who sold it to Clark County, Nevada.

The sign is located in the median at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South, north of the historic stone pillars of the old McCarran Airport on the east side, and across from the Bali Hai Golf Club and the (closed) Klondike Hotel & Casino on the west side. Some consider the sign to be the official southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. - wikipedia

Las Vegas Welcome Sign

Ayumi & Eric came all the way from Australia to get married in the 108 degree weather of Las Vegas! We started out at the Neon Sign Graveyard near downtown Las Vegas. The actual wedding ceremony was held at the Bellagio, my old stomping grounds. In case you didn't know I used to be a wedding photographer at the Bellagio.
