Vegas Rocks! Magazine celebrated its 5 year anniversary in front of the Las Vegas sign on August 11, 2009.
The goal was to break the world record of the most guitarists playing along to Elvis Presley's classic "Viva Las Vegas" in front of the Las Vegas sign.
The publishing queen of rock 'n roll, Sally Steele hosted the event and our own cool Mayor, Oscar Goodman even showed up to play some guitar and sing along with the rockin' Elvis impersonator that also there.

I've photographed the Golden Goose Gentlemen's Club before. It's interesting that the Fremont Street Experience, which has become a family attraction has a strip club front and center. I guess little boys have to be introduced to the real world somewhere. It's just strikes me as odd that a city that profits from gambling, sex, and sensory titillation hosts PG family attraction in such an open venue.
But if you're an overprotecting parent, here's an interesting story. Several years ago a prominent porn director opened a latex and bondage show called, "Fashionistas." It was the most extreme sexually oriented show to ever hit the Strip. It didn't attract an audience. Why?
The sociologists deemed that sensory overload is so commonplace in Las Vegas, there's very little you can show that's new and titillating. I mean, really, after you've seen the fountains at the Bellagio of the light show at Fremont Street Experience, would you pay $125 to see some hot chicks in latex? Go figure:)
A cloudless morning is the best time to capture this world famous landmark -- well worth getting out on The Strip at 8am.
Why lose all of your money in a hotel casino when you can lose all our your money playing the Slots here at McCarran's new Airport Terminal 3.
The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is a Las Vegas landmark funded in May 1959 and erected soon after by Western Neon. The sign was designed by Betty Willis at the request of Ted Rogich, a local salesman, who sold it to Clark County, Nevada.
In a nod to Nevada's nickname as "the Silver State," across the top of the sign are white neon circles, designed to represent silver dollars. The circles each contain a red painted letter, outlined in neon, which together form the word "Welcome."
1 visit the art exhibit Lost Vegas: Tim Burton @ The Neon Museum and 1 along with my fiance get to meet Tim Burton in person, fulfilling my lifelong dream! We then see the exhibit itself and 1 tell you all about it. We also visit Peggy Sue's 50's Diner, Ugo Rondinone's Seven Magic Mountains art installation and Zzyzx, California along the way. Its quite an adventure!!

This image show monochromatic as it is saturated in one color fading out, in a sense, all other colors. It only uses shades of blue to show its artistic depiction.
