"A smile is the same in every language", was actually shown today at the Victor Mravlag school 21 multicultural showcase. Parents and family members enjoyed an amazing and diverse show that depicted countries such as: USA, Ireland, South Africa, Nigeria, Italy, Cuba, El Salvador, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, India and many more. Students were fascinated as they engaged in a musical wonder and discovered the talents of their student peers and teachers. Under the direction of Monica Luzardo and Monica Fontaine (Bilingual Magnet teachers) and the collaboration of all of the teachers involved, our goal of making a smile the same in every language was accomplished.
Mutual language lessons over la mesa de farmacia. Jo and Bruce would speak in Spanish and the kids would speak in English. They taught each other names of animals, colors, and counted together.
When you are using speed learning or accelerated learning techniques you do so by communicating. Communication is formed from language.
So far so good... Right !
Well maybe. You see it all depends on what the language is that you are learning in...

Approximately 170 Italian-American students from COD and local high schools gathered to immerse themselves in Italian language, heritage and culture during the College’s inaugural Italian Immersion Day
VIRTLANTIS is a free resource and open community of practice for language learners and teachers in the virtual world of Second Life®. We offer free informal language learning activities for a growing number of languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, etc. All of our activities are offered free of charge by volunteer language teachers and/or native speakers.
Everyone is welcome to offer a language activity at VIRTLANTIS. We provide free resources and ongoing support. We also collaborate with and promote other language communities in Second Life.
In addition to our main island and the various social meeting points at Knowingly, we have additional locations which can be used when needed.

We gladly provide additional support and resources on an as needed basis. We can also modify the look and feel of the island to help create the ideal atmosphere for your event.
