This is an old photo I took at Zion National Park in Utah several years ago. I found this while cleaning up some old photo files, and figured I post this since I have not yet posted this particular image. Angels Landing is the peak in the center of the photo. This image was taken from Observation Point, at the end of a beautiful hike that is one of my favorites.
In most years, this area at the Kane Boat landing would be flooded by Bighorn Lake (Reservoir). However, on June 19 202,1 the lake level was still low and the Bighorn River meandered across the grass covered lake bottom. Off in the distance a dust storm moves along the base of the hills.

This lovely gull is a bit unusual spectacle on a windy and freezing cold winter day at lake Velencei.

Not the best shot, but I like that it was using its tail feathers as a landing brake prior to putting it's feet down.
The Moss Landing public marina and the natural gas powered electricity generation plant located in Moss Landing, CA at the midpoint of Monterey Bay. Its large stacks are landmarks, visible throughout the Monterey Bay Area. The plant is owned and operated by Houston-based Dynegy and currently has a generation capacity of 1020 MW (net) from its two combined cycle generation units.[3] It was once the largest power plant in the state of California, with a generation capacity of 2560 MW, before its two large supercritical steam units were taken offline. It is to be the site of a new battery storage power station for grid battery storage of over 567MW / 2,270MWh of power, potentially the world's largest when completed.

The grey heron that was walking at the watercourse decided, that I came too near and half jumped half flew over the water to the other side.
The great blue heron is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North America and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands. Drake Bufflehead Duck coming in for a landing at the Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, Barnegat Light, NJ.
Seen while strolling the beach in Oriental Bay. The plane is not really that close as I was on the telephoto end of the zoom. I guess the people living up there get used to it?

RKO_3592. A lovely Common Kingfisher landing on a branch/stick after a successful dive. Not the best quality but I like the action.
