Osprey landing on a very very short runway

After a heavy snow that morning, the path leading toward the Grand Teton NP Mountains had puddles dotted all along way.

This pretty little guy, a Vermilion Flycatcher, is common in in the southwestern US and Mexico but is occasionally found here in Florida. I've had the opportunity to photograph it only once before. This is the bright red male. I managed to catch it as it was landing. (Pyrocephalus rubinus)

Ron and I were plagued by an aggressive Green Heron, who, whenever the kingfisher arrived at the snag, would possessively chase it off. We called it "The Bastard" which inspired this composite which I call "Bastard Landing". Wishful thoughts may have been behind the making of this composite.

I just can't seem to get enough of this place!

As I look towards possibly leading workshops in Grand Teton National Park, I've updated the edit on this photo from one of my past visits to the park.

A female American Wigeon drops in to visit the ducks bobbing around on this water hazard at a Surprise, Arizona, golf course.

This Snowy Owl was just landing on this pole after an unsuccessful attempt to catch his prey. The sun was going down which gave a warm glow.
