Land Rover Owner International Show 2023 at Belvoir Castle, near Grantham, Leicestershire, United Kingdom. Saturday 9th September 2023.
About the photograph.
This is a heavily customised Land Rover Defender modified for extreme off-roading. I have no idea what kind of engine it got, and I don’t have much information about it, as I didn’t get a programme for this event.
Here in the photo, it is seen showing off its off-roading abilities over some kind of a mock up rough terrain, during a live display show in the arena.
About the day.
In the early morning, I woke up, got ready, and took a three hours drive to Belvoir Castle, but that morning was already very warm, with a cloudless sky and the sun beating down on the land.
By the time I got there, I was already feeling very hot. I worn light coloured t-shirt, lightweight trousers, and a lot of sun cream, plus plenty of water.
Sadly, after about a couple of hours, I became a bit overheated in the burning sky, there weren’t much shades around, and it was kind of a heatwave of some sort.
So I had to give up, and return home to avoid getting a heat stroke, I only took like about 400 shots, and that was all I could manage.
When I got home, I had to have a cool down and a rest, and thankfully managed to stay well.
Land Rover Owner International Show.
Land Rover Owner, often abbreviated as LRO, is a British monthly magazine for Land Rover enthusiasts, published by a company based in Peterborough. The full title is often Land Rover Owner International.
It first started in July 1987 by a group of East Anglian businessmen, and was a mainly black and white 40 pages magazine. By the mid-1990s, it was bought by a publishing group, and became one of the popular Land Rover magazines.
The Land Rover Owner International Show is a yearly event ran by the magazine, and usually during the weekend in September. It features many various Land Rover vehicles on display, and includes an action arena for Land Rover drivers to display their driving skills.

Land Rover Owner International Show at the East of England Arena, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom. Saturday 15th September 2018.
About the image.
This is a Bowler Land Rover Defender speeding around the track in the showground arena, during a major Land Rover show.
I took a handful of shots of this Defender going around the bend, and picked those four shots to create a single frame-by-frame sequence.
I decided on a diagonal frame over frame arrangement which would keep it within a regular rectangle frame.
To avoid wasting background space and making it look dull, I included another photo, faded into the lower left background.
Thought this would be better than the previous separated uploads I did few years ago, figured the earlier uploads means Users have a hard time decided which ones to Fave, whereabouts the single image of multiple frames allows them to Fave all in one.
About the overall subject.
Bowler Land Rover Defender.
Andrew “Drew” Bowler modified a Land Rover Series I into a cross country rally racer. After seeing success, Drew started his company in 1985 with just about 8 people.
Bowler company had been designing and building aftermarket parts, and modifying Land Rovers for rally sports, at their family farm in Derbyshire, United Kingdom.
Over the years, they developed the Bowler Tomcat, then the successor, the Bowler Wildcat. Around 2007, they sold the manufacturing rights for the Wildcat to a different company, and Bowler started work in their Bowler Nemesis.
Sadly in 2016, Drew passed away, but his company lived on to continue his vision.
While the company continue, it is now a subsidiary of Jaguar Land Rover, as part of JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division.

As my son and I were wandering up a back alley in the Westend, I suddenly noticed that the light had started blushing, at first I thought my eyes were playing tricks, and then my son pointed out the sun was reflecting light off a tall pink building on Robson Street. It was like wearing rose coloured glasses, and it was lovely :)

Production of the iconic Land Rover Defender is to end today following 68 years as a workhorse for the Army, farmers and fans alike - including the Queen and Wirral Coastguards.
No exhaust pipes on this beast, so you guessed it: it's electric!
This car features on the main page of the builder of the car: The Landrovers (www.the-landrovers.com/).

Commissioned build of a pre-2020 era Land Rover Defender I made over a year ago, but did not take photos of at the time. I rebuilt it with some adjustments for Brickworld Chicago last month. It was great to be at Brickworld again! There were so many awesome people and incredible builds this year, which made up for lost time after two consecutively cancelled conventions. I have not been an active participant in the Lego community since college overtook me, but the creativity and friendliness of these builders will draw me back soon if I’m not careful.
