Spotted in a backstreet in York. The owner of the Land Rover Defender and dogs was busy relaying some pavement just thirty yards away.

Street photography from Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, Scotland.
Previously unpublished shot from July 2019.
I had taken the ferry to the Isle of Bute for a day trip and arrived at the same time that the first ever Pride March was going to start on the island. Camera in hand, I took part for the first time in my life, for a short way, and couldn't resist capturing this shot. Traffic was crawling along so thankfully the dog didn't need to steer! Love is love. Dogs can't drive. Enjoy!
Today it was a very stormy day with many problems on the road through fallen trees. During the walk it was hard to stay upright and we had to be careful not to get hit by falling branches.
Many thanks to all who takes the time to view, comment and fave my pictures!
Life's too short to drive boring cars!

Never underestimate the therapeutic power of driving through the puddles with a Defender while listening to very loud music!
We love to go offroad with our Defender.
Unfortunately the last Land Rover Defender rolled off the production line in January 2016.
Many thanks to all who takes the time to view, comment and fave my pictures!
Off-roaders or four wheel drives come in all sizes! Here, the tiny "N" scale or 1/160th scale Landrover Defender is parked behind the front wheel of the 1/18th scale Suzuki Jimny Sierra radio controlled car by Kyosho. The radio control car has clearly been driven in the dirt!
For a true sense of actual size, the Landrover Defender is just 25mm or 1 inch in length.
An 8 image focus stack taken and processed with the Canon R10, RF 100-400 zoom lens, and with the Nisi close-up lens attached.
An iPhone photo from our recent Malta trip.
Unknown to me this location known as the Inland Sea at Dwejra Bay on the island of Gozo was used as a film location in Game of Thrones. I have never watched the programme so didn't recognise the scene.
This little lake is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a small tunnel that cuts through the surrounding high cliffs. The lake (known as the Inland Sea) provides a safe harbour and fishing huts have been built on two sides. It was interesting to see that the local boats are pushed into and hauled out of the water by a number of old Land Rover Defenders.
A Land Rover defender tackling salt water. I wonder if the surf board is the lifeboat.
Being the home to Jersey Surfboard Club, St Ouen’s beach is a natural playground for surfers and adrenaline seekers. Being one of the best beaches to learn to surf in Jersey, you can see why people keep coming back for more. Explore the sand dunes, and enjoy the Atlantic backdrop as you enjoy a coastal walk whatever time of year you visit.
.....being guarded by the Land Rover defender!
Who needs a car alarm? : )

The lizard (imaginatively named "Lizzie" by us) was a nice present given to my wife and I for "house sitting" while friends were on a holiday and I have been looking for a situation to take a photo of it. It is quite small at maybe 5 inches or 125mm in length, but the car is just over one inch or about 26 mm in length. I didn't realise that it actually had the "Defender" name across the front until I got this on the big screen. That name badge is just 2 mm wide! Amazing detail for a car that is meant as a little background piece in a model railway layout.
This fabulously maintained long wheel base Land Rover Defender was one of several that were in regular use at Dwejra Bay on the Maltese island of Gozo. Best of all the keys were left in the ignition when I had a peek inside.
I have long had a soft spot for Land Rover Defenders so coming across this well used original example was right up my street so to speak.
It was well below freezing and the snow crisp. I was driving at walking speed and you could hear the purposeful crunch of snow under the 2 tonnes of Defender. Not the most comfortable vehicle on long journeys, but it could get me anywhere. If on the rare occasion I did get stuck, I had a shovel to dig and a winch to pull myself out.

Infrared HDR (3 shot) processed in ColorEfex Pro and Analog Efex. Bit different to my usual IR processing!
Image for Macro Mondays "Holiday Bokeh" theme.
