Since the Land Rover went into production in 1948, over 2 million Series I, II, III and Defenders have been built in Solihull, England, helping the model become one of the most iconic utility vehicles in the world.
Originally envisioned for farming and agricultural use, from the 1950s on Land Rovers went everywhere, did everything, were used by everyone, and along the way became a uniquely classless automobile.
Back in January 2016, the last Defender rolled off the assembly line, where Series and Defender Land Rovers had been built continuously for 68 years. It was the grand finale for the Defender that included 400 Heritage models, available as either 90 (two door, short wheelbase) or 110 (four door, long wheelbase) models.
As Land Rover stopped building that worldwide workhorse 5 years ago, I like to honor their heritage with a Lego version of the very last Heritage Edition. The design is a Model 90 Station Wagon, sized about 34 studs in length, 17 width and 19 height.
The over-all appearance, right up to the engine and interior, dashboard, seats and center console, even the two levers for gear shifting and locking the center differential are adapted to Lego parts as close as possible to the actual design.
Following the iconic original also in construction, rigid Technic axles provide enough travel for great adaption to uneven (shelf-) terrain.

The Ashcombe Scuffle is now completing it's 5th year of metal mayham. Bigger than ever, we now have people coming from near and far to come to break their toys. After this weekend there will be no more events until 2016 so that we can smooth things back over, and nature can do it's work growing ground cover back.
