The only shot I ever got of one of LS&I's RS3's was at the old Presque Isle engine terminal in Marquette in October 1976.
We used anything with wheels on the 499! It was interesting taking one of these through the old Oldchurch hospital.

Back in 2009 rumors of new GE AC4400's coming to displace the uboats were beginning to gather momentum. A pair of sd60's had been on hand the previous season if memory serves but thankfully had not made in roads. On a mission to capture what we feared would be the last stand of uboats in the northwoods we came across the 7am Tilden job heading down to the mines. The uboats have managed to survive another 8 years though reduced to a mere two pair. How much longer can the old boats hang on?

This was shortly after the low-cost 'Harrow Buses' had started up. Clearly they were short of double-deckers.
Until I saw these pictures I never knew that a single-decker had ever worked on the 140!
Picture of a Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Caboose @ Hillsdale, Michigan 1902. Looks like guiet the collection of people in the photo. looks to be a Conductor in the front left. some appear to be laborer's and others appear to be train crews. Other could be from the roundhouse.. only speculation unless someone else knows of this photo.. It has some nice detail to it and a look back 115 years ago. Not sure where the photo is from but it also mentions that 1 of the persons is the GG Grandfather of whom the photo came from. I thought it was worth sharing...
