A good cross-section of the Lake Superior & Ishpeming’s mid-1980’s roster is shown in this view at the Eagle Mills Shops. On the left, in the late 1970’s green paint scheme, is RSD12 1802, purchased new from Alco in 1956. In the center is RSD15 2403, acquired from the Santa Fe in the mid-1970’s, where it plied the rails of its system, including Cajon Pass, as AT&SF 744. To the right, in sparkling new red paint, is U23C 2301, purchased new from GE in 1968.

By comparison with the rather 'down at heels' Bristol L, this ECW-bodied Bristol LS is positively sparkling in the attractive pale blue-grey and maroon Tilcon livery, which was a common sight on Foden tipper trucks across the north of England from the 1970s into the early 1990s and perhaps a little longer. When United started to dispose of its Bristol LS buses in the early 1970s, some contractors took the opportunity to replace older Bristol L buses with the newer, underfloor-engined model.

Thanks Don for the preset :), but with an ATW touch :)

Soon to be gone from the roster, a pair of LS&I ex-BN U30C motors drag empty vans back to the mine at Tilden here at Eagle Mills Junction.

This started out as a grotty lumpy old Westward kit, but after removing half a ton of old metal by filing down the window pillars to something more realistic, its taken on an entirely different role, as downgraded to bus use. This pic shows the jack knife bus doors I was fabricating for it. I've also since rebuilt the front blind box to something more realistic.
