Hi, Space Police squad... Let me introduce you your new Nightmare : the B-Rex! Muahahaha 😈

Enter 1994’s Saucer Scout to round out my Spyrius collection

This set felt ubiquitous as a kid. I had it, and I’m pretty sure most of my friends did too back then. It’s about as simple yet effective as LEGO can get with a spacecraft!

So for the line that gave my generation the first leg prints, with Major Kartofski, LEGO doesn’t give too much diversity among the Spyrius crew (outside of the Big One).

Enter the Spyrius-verse, anyone?

As a huge fan of Spyrius, I’m very happy to have this little set back in the collection.

More LEGO retro spaceships and rovers to be featured soon!

The NPS ("new propulsion system") sets it apart from the competition! Not recommended for drag racing, though...

Built for SHIPtember 2021.

It is 155 studs tall, 119 wide, 99 long, and contains 10,001 pieces.

In a "what if Lord of the Rings was a space epic" comes the terrifying mobile spacecraft citadel known as The Mouth of Sauron. This spaceship is commanded by what is rumored to be a black Numenorean who is the lieutenant of the Barad Dur system in the Middle Space galaxy.

It acted as the mouthpiece so-to-speak of the galactic terror of Sauron. With a fiercely powerful wraith cannon it laid planets and solar systems under the submission and destruction of Sauron.

The spacecraft was also rumored to be the physical remnants (mouth, parts of his brain, and spinal cord) of the great galactical tyrant after his resurrection as the Eye of Sauron black hole.

Hundreds of orc and Uruk-hai worked as grunts to operate the spacecraft.

It was destroyed shortly before Frodo and Sam destroyed the black hole of the Eye of Sauron by the spacecraft known as Andúril piloted by Aragorn.

The basic workhorse of the Jakari Defence Force, the Boilerplate-Class Light Interceptor is found in great numbers in the hangars of every Jakari battlecruiser, installation and base. What it lacks in armour, shielding, or variety of armament, it more than makes up in speed and singularity of focus. With its twin shimmer-lance cannons, it also packs a reasonable punch, especially when deployed at the ratio of overwhelming numbers the Jakari prefer: at least 8:1.

As with most vessels out of the Jakari Sunstar Systems shipyards, its designation was chosen from a pool of name suggestions put forward by the engineers and shipwrights who designed and built it. Understandably, “Boilerplate” was chosen over such suggestions as “VAST (Very Adequate Space Thing)”, “Grey Ship 461”, and the ever-suggested “Spacey McSpace Face”.

I have had this Vic Viper built since at least 2016, but every year Nnovvember would fly by and yet again I would not have taken any good pictures of it. So when I recently finished making a (very basic) lightbox for Lego photography, I thought it would be a good opportunity to finally shoot and upload something for Nnovvember.

This is my first (and so far, only) Vic Viper, so I wanted to go for something really classic in its shape and profile, hence the name. If I were to build it now I would make it much more colourful, but I did not want to change it before photographing it, given how long it has sat in a box awaiting this moment.

I will be uploading a bunch of other old models now that I have a more reliable way of taking okay pictures, so watch this space!

UFO is a 1970 British television science fiction series about an alien invasion of Earth.

The show's basic premise is that in 1980 Earth is being visited and attacked by aliens from a dying planet and humans are being covertly harvested for their organs by the aliens.

The show's main cast of characters are members of a secret, high-technology international agency called SHADO (an acronym for Supreme Headquarters, Alien Defence Organisation) established to defend Earth and humanity against the mysterious aliens.

SHADO has a variety of high-tech hardware and vehicles at its disposal to implement a layered defence of Earth.

Among these the ground units including the armored SHADO Mobile, fitted with caterpillar tracks, in the pic above the evo-lution version bruick-built.

My LEGO SHADO mobile features extras:

- a bubble canopy;

- a front hook;

- a radar antenna with auxiliar light;

- a back entrance and other accessories.

I recreated a detailed interior with many features, included on board computers and many weapons useful to prevent potential aliens' attacks.

The crew is composed by three: commander, driver and radio operator (all of them well equipped).

Thanks for stopping by.

LL924. The Space Transporter, or Space Cruiser in the US. The set I had asked for when my Dad got me the bigger Space Cruiser and Moonbase (Galaxy Explorer) set for Christmas. Which was the set I really wanted but thought my parents would balk at paying for.

Alas, I got rid of all my childhood LEGO as a teenager. But though I got a number of those first-generation Space sets, I never did get the LL924.

Anyway, here's my take on an update. In retrospect I think the wings should start out a little wider, but it was going to be way too complicated to tear it all down and rebuild it from the nose back. It is what it is.

O-Wing Starfighter v2

A collaborative design project

I knew it was going to be hard to top the play features and design of the first O-Wing www.flickr.com/photos/davekaleta/46617057261/

Elliot turned four just before I started this one. He had just gotten the Darth Vader Transformation 75183 set. So I "borrowed" some of the PLATE (A) 4M 45° to finish this build. Each of the eight sections has a rotating feature. I particularly like the cockpit area. This ship might be modified to the letter "Q" for the next phase of this project.

One cold weekend afternoon, I was looking for something to do with my three year old in the house. We went to our Lego room, "What do you want to build?", "A spaceship," Star Wars obsessive Elliot answered, "an E-Wing!" I knew that the Lego fan site From Bricks to Bothans held a letter based starfighter contest years before, but I was willing to give it our own try.

During the build I developed our own set of self imposed RULES:

1. The ship has to be in the shape of the letter

2. It must be strong enough for a three year old to play with it without breaking

3. The primary color and cockpit location are chosen by Elliot

4. Any piece Elliot finds (that matches the color scheme) MUST be incorporated into the build

5. What Elliot says, goes. So if he wants a play feature or design element, I had find a way to make it happen

As the project progressed the builds became more and more complex and the rules became more flexible. We finished the letters of Elliot's first name and then he wanted his middle name. During the second set of letters I tried to incorporate more complex play features.

These creations sit in display in his room and he loves playing with them and creating self invented narratives and worlds. Working with him helped stretch my skills and introduced him into the process of design.

All 13 of these ships were on public display at Brickworld Chicago 2019. Please let me know if you saw them there and what you thought!

Neo Tunnel transport 4980 Rock Raiders

The Sapphire-class Mk. II incorporated more powerful retro-microthrusters, additional VTOL and landing-assist primary thrusters, superior crystal lattice armour in line with that of the new Essex Mk. II Combat Cruiser, and an improved navigation system for more independent operation. The Mk. II saw the introduction of the Mk.II-D Heavy Assault/Support Shuttle, a configuration to match and exceed the CLF D-51 in a similar role. Retrofits to existing craft were implemented, though the need to keep most Mk. I shuttles in action meant that few retrofits were actually performed during the Federation War. The Mk. II and Mk. II (R) variants have however almost entirely replaced the Mk. I in service as of 2533. Production of the EA-C commercial and EA-D7 have continued in the postwar era.

Known to the Blacktron Alliance as the "Jackal"-class strike craft, and to their Federation foes simply as the "Raider", this is a manoeuvrable small craft used by the Blacktron for a number of roles, particularly commerce interdiction against Federation trade routes but also escort duties and long-range armed reconnaissance.

The Jackal incorporates only two laser cannons as primary armament, but these are significantly more powerful than the equivalent Federation small craft utilise.

WELCOME to the NEW SPACE AGE!

Inspired by the real space stations, this imaginary minifig-scale space outpost is the place for all variety of crew members working together and expanding the human frontier- the moon, Mars, and beyond!

Do you want to expand this LEGOspace outpost? Yes you can! The station has a docking port (panel with window and 4 pin holes, 49699) as an expansion interface that is compatible with existing LEGO sets such as:

- the spacecraft in the set 60227 "Lunar Space Station"

- the rocket in the set 60228 "Deep Space Rocket"

- the rocket in the 60229 "Rocket Assembly & Transport"

- the subsea modules of the set 60265 "Ocean Exploration Base"

- the new sets 60348 "Moon Rover" and 60350 "Lunar Research Base"

Unfortunately the Outpost only sleeps 5 men so the Spacemen work in 3 shifts and "hot bunk". Often 2-4 team members are on local away expeditions making life a little easier for those staying at the station base.

-

The staff is comprised of:

-

1 station commanding officer, CO

1 chief engineering officer, XO

1 chief science and operations officer, COO

1 medical officer

1 system engineer

1 mechanical engineer

1 security officer

7 science officers (various specialties)

In the future a new earth-like planet - named Ademis - is discovered. A group of people with different skills is sent to Ademis to live there and examine the pre-conditions for a larger colony to be established.

FebRovery 2022, installment 11.

There seem to be a lot of motorbike-type rovers in my submissions this year. Here's another one, in my personal favourite Space Police colours, the first generation of that subtheme.

If you're noticing a trend in recent uploads, that's probably not a coincidence. I had quite a backlog of these guys that never got posted.
