Butterfly-Class Racing Ship

Wingspan: 102 studs

The Heartlake Horizon is Nova's custom ship in the hit new space-themed Racing game sweeping Heartlake City. Much like how Nova's tough exterior hides an inner sweetness, her ship's aggressive exterior contrasts its harmless function -- the hulking engines enable faster-than-light travel for thrilling races, the forward blasters merely clear space debris from her path without harming other ships, and the protruding brow above the windscreen facilitate a spacious cockpit. The industrial aesthetic was a practical choice - Nova values function over form. Noting the ship's vague resemblance to a butterfly, Nova decked out her ride in orange and black in reference to the Monarch, known for its ability to travel great distances. The colors also reference a tropical sunset - The orange of the sun's rays, the serene blue ocean, the shocking green flash, and the black of the coming night

This model is my first ever contribution to Shiptember, and of course pulls major inspiration from Friendshiptember. It was a daunting yet exciting challenge to build this in a month! The seeds of this design go further back though, I've wanted to use the vinyl sail element on the back wings in a MOC for well over a year, and I've been holding on to the engine intake design since soon after BrickSlopes 2024 (where I got a Stuntz set featuring the orange ramp pieces). The Jack Stone trailer beds are also pieces I've wanted to use for years, since they're so bulky I figured a 100+ stud build would be an appropriate place for them The final push I needed to get on this project was the Durr Burger set, which I got a couple of at Brickslopes 2025 and used their round orange slopes in the engines.

"The LAAT/le, also known as Republic Police Gunship or Imperial Patrol Transport was a Gunship used for law enforcement operations by the Galactic Republic and later on by the Galactic Empire for broader millitary patrol missions." This model depicts the imperial variant of the vessel, which was heavily featured in Star Wars Rebels, and later in several other media such as the video games Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, as well as the live-action TV-series Ahsoka and Andor.

This MOC composed of 1732 pieces, and was designed to be close to minifigure-scale while keeping a sturdy and accurate exterior design. Additionally, it includes some play functions like opening doors to the main cargo/transport area, a fully detailed cockpit interior and adjustable front turrets and stabilisers.

Fun fact: I started working on this model back in 2020 for EmpireLUG's Sandstone Collaboration. However after some changes to the collab in early 2021, it was removed from that build

A custom blacktron build which I worked a lot on, and one of my most complex spaceship designs

It features a modern cockpit, a cargo bay which can be opened and contains 2 small containers. It’s got a bomb bay too and you can reload the bombs and even release them with a push of a button. Also there is a secret compartment in the ship with a data recorder, and for landings there are landing legs too!😎

This vignette was shot on top of a piece of sheet metal, photographed with a wide-angle lens with a closeup filter, and taken in front of a web of Christmas lights. Although I took this photo inside my house, the original idea was supposed to be shot outside. Shortly after taking the photos of my spacemen in front of Christmas lights for a bokeh effect in Lancaster, I decided to one-up this setting by shooting a group photo of the astronauts in front of a large display of multicolored lights. To do this, I scouted for locations in Queens and Long Island that had good vantage points in front of Christmas lights. I found a Catholic school in Whitestone called St. Mel’s, which had an impressive array of lights. On one Saturday night I drove to the school/church to photograph test images, but alas found no suitable areas to setup the whole group photo with their instruments. The best I could do was to shoot a few photos of individual minifigs along a railing, but not the whole band. I ended up not using any of the test photos, and instead opted to shoot the scene indoors. The major challenge I ran into was getting the whole band in focus while keeping the Christmas lights blurry for a bokeh pattern. Due to space limitations in my attic studio, I wasn’t able to achieve the proper depth-of-field techniques I wanted, and instead settled for the yellow drummer out of focus. Another major issue was the fact that the Space Policeman (red visor, lead guitar) kept toppling over at any slight jolt.

WOW! I did not expect this so soon! I only got to 400 follower a few weeks ago and 100 came very quickly! Thanks you all very much and I very greatful that you all appreciate my pictures!

I had a need for an escort carrier so I built one. This one's at the same scale as the freighters I posted earlier. I'm not entirely sold on the carrier bays but it works well enough.

Team Astrotech presents its New model for the Unlim class of the Galactic Speeder League. Like the previous P9 model, it utilizes lava engines produced solely on the planet of Mauna-Effa, but has much sleeker body design and a pair of maneuver engines at the front.

These are three more of the support vessels I built for a collab a few years ago.

I recently bought the instructions for Jerac's TIE fighter from Brickvault.

I made some modifications to the colors used, to give it a more weathered look; there's flat silver, sand blue and dark tan mixed in with the grey and I added dark blue and dark brown to the black. I feel that this mixing of colors also removes some of the "toy" feel you get when using a single color.

The build is everything I hoped it would be: it was fun, I learned a few new tricks, it looks great, and it's surprisingly strong. I've let my kids play with it and not a single piece had come off yet. It took me about 3 hours at a leisurely pace.

I didn't find a single thing I'd change about the model while building; it's all very sensible and optimized. You can see that this is the result of a LOT of thought and testing.

I'm considering replacing the bricks with flutes in the panels with stacked jumper plates: these have a groove, which I hope results in an even better representation of the pattern you see on screen. But I'll need about 1000 of them, so it's quite a big undertaking with no guarantees of success...

Remember the 1987 Monorail set 6990? I'm trying to create one using modern parts. The new 2022 city space sets triggered me to try this.

Shoutouts to Inthert for suggesting the name. I guess the Andrea minidoll can be Enfys Nest - the Forces of Destiny version!

Not the most reliable or easy-to-operate of Blacktron vehicles, the BT7751, nicknamed the "Dark Dragster", was designed as a fast raiding rover armed with dual small-calibre omega particle cannons. The Blacktron Alliance frequently use dangerous and unstable technology in their equipment, but omega cannons produce sufficient background radiation that the designers were forced to place them at a distance from the pilot's position. After a design where they were positioned directly over the front axle proved too difficult to control, the current strutted design was produced. Dark Dragsters are rare in the Blacktron Alliance's hardware lists but are usually given a wide berth by both the Federation and the Alliance's own troops whenever they are rolled out.

FebRovery episode 7, and time for a silly-looking rover with a "serious" writeup.

Never mind the infallible precision radar guidance you'd need to land a freaking space rocket in an interior hangar accessible through a door barely wider than the rocket itself, interior hangars are cool. I was quite happy with the microscale retro-style rocket, but felt like it needed something more to complete the build; thus the hangar and port facility.

Here's to hoping your Christmas is out of this world!

With the Basilisk starfighter, I wanted to try some weapons/loadout variants, like in a SHMUP. This is the level VIII, the weapons on the ship are the same as level VI, the gun drones are retained, and a shield drone is added in front. The one in the original photos looks like it will be level 5. This is the final upgrade I've built, and the last that I had ideas for.

The top parts are Bionicle armour pieces from 2008-2009, added to this spaceship during a Bionicle-themed LondonAFOLs meet-up to convey a bit of alien technology into this angular craft.
