Some explanations on my "UFO Green Tower" that was on the display "Space Panic" (with my friends: Sweetsha - N3rik)

Tower Height : 1,20m !

Why a green tower ?

Lego made Green Spaceman minifigs but there was no "home" for these newcomers.

The "Classic Space" defense league phoned me to ask me to build a control tower in the color of the new Spaceman.

I'm thinking of the green Spaceman ! They were very sad not to have a tower to their color. That's it now the error is repaired.

Nice Lego Technic :

To make the tower I used "Sports Field Section 8 x 16" - ref : 30489 (Old set Lego soccer) assembled to obtain a round tower.

The advantage is that you can quickly get high.

Difficulty :

There are many challenges to overcome when you want to build "big".

In this tower the main difficulty was the "gravity", keep the 2 platforms perfectly horizontal so that it is aesthetically beautiful.

I solved this problem by adding a big counterweight to the center of the tower.

In the wake ofr the unsucessful trials of the inside/out-rover, a new direction was taken up. Would bigger wheels yield a well-accessible engine on the I/O-plan, while allowing the wheels to touch the ground? After taking the vehicle for a spin, which turned out to be centrifugal, the concept was discarded as another dead end.

S-Wing Starfighter

A collaborative design project

At first I had no idea how to use dark blue on the S-Wing. I knew I wanted a way for the wings to fold up so that it would have a landed mode. My first idea was to use grey jumper plates and 1x1 dark blue tiles rotated 45º to make a snake like pattern. I abandoned that and used the neon orange with unintentionally referenced the Nexo-Knights theme. I really love the way the greebles on the underside turned out.

One cold weekend afternoon, I was looking for something to do with my three year old in the house. We went to our Lego room, "What do you want to build?", "A spaceship," Star Wars obsessive Elliot answered, "an E-Wing!" I knew that the Lego fan site From Bricks to Bothans held a letter based starfighter contest years before, but I was willing to give it our own try.

During the build I developed our own set of self imposed RULES:

1. The ship has to be in the shape of the letter

2. It must be strong enough for a three year old to play with it without breaking

3. The primary color and cockpit location are chosen by Elliot

4. Any piece Elliot finds (that matches the color scheme) MUST be incorporated into the build

5. What Elliot says, goes. So if he wants a play feature or design element, I had find a way to make it happen

As the project progressed the builds became more and more complex and the rules became more flexible. We finished the letters of Elliot's first name and then he wanted his middle name. During the second set of letters I tried to incorporate more complex play features.

These creations sit in display in his room and he loves playing with them and creating self invented narratives and worlds. Working with him helped stretch my skills and introduced him into the process of design.

All 13 of these ships were on public display at Brickworld Chicago 2019. Please let me know if you saw them there and what you thought!

The perfect ride for a divorcing couple ^^

Benny spaceship made for the display "Space Panic" at the french convention Brick à Dole 2017.

Benny was saying spaceship, spaceship, spaceship... it was time to build him a. A cool and fast spaceship that can raid Kessel in 11 parsecs. ^^

This spaceship is a reinterpretation of the famous Lego set "Galaxy Explorer" n°928 #Nostalgie

It was made entirely in SNOT in the spirit of "Neo Classic Space"

As in the original version, I kept the cargo hold at the rear of the ship. The ship opens in 2 and cargo can be loaded.

Built by Nick Kappatos and myself for BrickFair VA, 2021. The landing pad and roadway components were modular in nature, with the hope of expanding and rearranging over time.

Sorry for the numerous uploads ! But my CS crew was on the verge to make a revolution if they didn't obtain new vehicles to... well, roll along the carpet ^^

I didn't want them to get angry... ;-)

Sinking into the ocean of weirdness ^^

A new version of Stark Industries' Unlim class speeder for the Galactic Speeder League. The Evo variant retains a huge diffuser and two engines at the front, yet there in another one on the back. The design of the engines is changed, the speeder itself is one pin shorter and the aerodynamics at the back are sleeker.

The Astrosurfer: an atomic-powered intergalactic sports car, accompanied by the hit new space rock band The Highway Stars! This epic futuristic vehicle is detailed and articulated with wheels, rubber tires, hinged doors, reclining seats, and with access to the car’s trunk. On the hood of the car is a metallic minifigure hood ornament, and underneath is a detailed engine. In the rear of the car are two folding jet engines, a set of tailpipes, a spoiler, and an Octan bumper sticker.

Background: this project was initially conceived back in fall 2015, during my long, imaginative train of thought. In late November of 2015, I took some photos of my Futuron minifigs in front of Christmas lights for an artistic bokeh effect. This led me to come up with the idea of taking a group shot of a few spacemen hanging out as friends, accompanied by lyrics from the Ramones song “I Just Want to Have Something to Do.” This soon evolved into the idea of making each of the spacemen as musicians in a fictional band, that was inspired by the music video for the aforementioned song — which starts off with the Ramones playing the song in the back of a car. With this concept in mind, in early December I took a photo of some Futuron minifigs playing instruments in front of Christmas lights. Upon releasing this photo, I was then struck with another bolt of inspiration while watching the music video for Monster Magnet’s “Negasonic Teenage Warhead“: towards the end of the video, the band takes off in a purple classic Buick and flies through space! This idea hit me, and that night I had a dream to build a futuristic space sports car being driven by a rock band — essentially an amalgamation of those videos by the Ramones and Monster Magnet, along with my previous LEGO space photography!

Production for this creation began immediately after Christmas 2015, as I was preoccupied in December with production of my LEGO Nutcrackers and electronic Mega Man sprite. The bulk of this model was completed in the middle of January, but unfortunately I ran into one tiny (yet major) obstacle: I wanted a Classic Space symbol flag for the car’s antenna, however the Collectible Minifigure that contained this particular part wasn’t available in the United States yet. It wasn’t until early February that these figures were available (scarcely) at my local Toys ‘Я’ Us in Whitestone. I felt up all of the packages, and managed to snag the very last astronaut, thus obtaining that seemingly-insignificant flag for the antenna!

The five astronauts are made from authentic Classic Space minifig bodies, hence the noticeable play wear in their insignia. I did however deviate by giving them helmets with color-coordinated visors, as well as contemporary faces. The instruments were from other Collectible Minifigure sets, with the exception of the drum kit. For the car’s design, I initially wanted to build an accurate replica of a 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air or perhaps a Cadillac Eldorado — but instead, I opted to make an original design of an arbitrary concept. The two-tone color scheme wasn’t intentional: I wanted to make the car solid pink, but had to instead make use with available pieces in the pink/purple color family.

Combining the speed and agility of various bike-style rovers with the surface-gripping of tank treads, the Darkhawg-class treadbike is one of the more dangerous combat machines to come out of the BT Shadow-Works on planet Stygian. Armed with two powerful laser cannons and a pair of forward sensor-blinding chaff dispensers, it is employed for armed reconnassance and fast attack.

I finally manage to complete the team :

* The minifigures accessories are custom but compatible with official lego. Most of my builds are not possible to make physically from custom parts and minifigures to unavailable colors. My goal is to make lego as aesthetic as possible with lego as a medium.

Build made with Bricklink Studio 2.0 with existing parts and image enhanced and edited in Photoshop.

Developed as a long-range exploration vessel sized between its more famous stablemates the LL928 and LL924, the LL926 Cosmos Explorer ended up having less in the way of cargo space in the rear compartment, only able to fit the smallest design of rover available to the Lagrange-Lunacorp designers. Most of the extra space was taken up with fuel storage and crew supplies, giving the Cosmos Explorer the longest unsupplied range of the three vessels.

The lack of cargo capacity made the Cosmos Explorer less versatile than either of the other early LL-type explorer ships, however, and many planetary fleets of the inner system bought only a few of the craft. In the far reaches of the Uranian and Neptunian leagues and the Kuiper Belt Alliance, however, these ultra-long-range craft really came into their own.

~~~
So I was planning to build a sleekened, updated version of the old LL924 Space Transporter, but I think this ended up a bit bigger than that venerable beauty. Not quite up to the LL928, but that might actually be within reach now. Amazing thought.
When the ordinary course of justice goes awry, the Iustitiae Praeconum calls upon the Vindicta Class Assault Vehicle to deliver squads of Enforcers to dispense justice on the Condemned.
For a long time when I was at University, most of my Lego building was focused on creating armies and terrain for games of Brikwars with a group of friends. While we stopped playing Brikwars with any semblance of regularity four or five years ago, most of the models for a couple of armies have remained intact since then, in a box under the spare bed, awaiting proper photography before I can finally disassemble them. Built between 2012 and 2016, the models themselves are of varying quality, but I thought I would upload and preserve them in photo form anyway.
These models come from my “main” Brikwars army - officially called the Iustitiae Praeconum, but more lovingly referred to as the “SpOrks”. Their backstory was that they were members of a highly advanced race that had taken it upon themselves to act as a galactic judge, jury, and executioner for other species they deemed criminal - Judge Dredd writ large. I decided that I wanted these highly advanced spacefarers to be Orks - hence “SpOrks”. Aesthetically they are heavily indebted to the Eldar/Craftworld Aeldari from Warhammer 40,000, with most of their vehicles taking direct inspiration from particular Eldar units.
Looking back on the army now, it is all a bit uncomfortably fascistic for my tastes, but I thought I would preserve the models - complete with the descriptions of the units I had put on their stat cards at the time - regardless.
July 20th, 1969: The Eagle Has Landed.
A simple shot of my Classic Space magnifigure with a US flag, in front of my celestial matte painting. This was taken indoors with a wide angle lens, since my earlier attempts at outdoor shots didn't work out. On the afternoon of July 20, 2017 I drove to NY Hall of Science to take a photo of this figurine in front of Rocket Park. Unfortunately, there were no good vantage points, and most of the large rocket installations were obscured by trees. I took several shots, but alas you could barely tell there were giant rockets behind the astronaut. I eventually just drove home and quickly took the photo indoors.
In the future a new earth-like planet - named Ademis - is discovered. A group of people with different skills is sent to Ademis to live there and examine the pre-conditions for a larger colony to be established.
This is a health care module. I've also built a habitat example module. My aim is to build further example modules to visualize the various functions of the colony.
With the Basilisk starfighter, I wanted to try some weapons/loadout variants, like in a SHMUP. This is the level VI, dual mass accelerator cannons. The one in the original photos looks like it will be level 5. More upgrades to come!
:::As some of you know I’m more on the photography side of the LEGO world, but sometimes I dabble in my own builds and this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time; build a starfighter in my own take of the Neo-Classic Space style. However I usually lack the parts for such a build, I decided to design it in LDD and then used that to figure out the parts I’d need to BrickLink to build it. The final is slightly different from the original LDD build, but overall I’m really happy with it and excited to show it all to you now. Please let me know what you guys think! I’ll be posting more images of her in the coming days.
2021 contribution for NoVVember
A microscale spaceship built for the open round of Iron Forge.
The seed parts are the Classic Space helmet (used four times) and the standard motorcycle helmet (used once)
Not inspired by anything in particular, I just went for something and subconsciously ended up Star Wars-y.
Possibly my favourite of the later Classic Space ground vehicles, the 6950 Mobile Rocket Transport perfectly combines the practical near-future explorer vibe of the very first generation of Space sets with the (mostly) more advanced aesthetic sensibilities of the later sets.
I just *had* to try an updated version.
Numerous other people have built excellent updates of this great set, many of which are far superior to mine, but I'm pleased with my efforts regardless.
