After a quick round in the uninspiring museum about the Li River ecosystem, I tried to get a cup of hot coffee at the small snacks counter just outside the museum. The lady in charge couldn't understand a word and when she finally caught the word 'coffee', she pointed me to tins of Nescafe at room temperature. The word 'hot' or miming to show tea bags at least were lost on her. I finally went past her into her kitchen and pointed to the electric kettle there. Ah, the lady said, and then served me with a cup of scalding hot water. Gawd! Well, hot water done, we now turn to the boarding gates. My turn comes up immediately after this group has boarded. Ok, hacked is an overstatement. But this is what happens when you have a public LED sign connected to your campus network, with no authentication and a simple protocol clearly documented online.

Hoy nos vinieron a dejar un LED gigantesco que ira en la Facultad de Comunicaciones de la Universidad Catolica. La idea es que tomemos ciertos Feeds RSS de noticias y sus titulares vayan pasando por el LED. Ni se imaginan lo bien que lo estamos pasando. Dan ganas de tener uno propio para colgarlo afuera del edificio e ir publicando los resultados de los partidos del mundial.
