A shattered touchscreen is unfortunate.

The weird effect from applying pressure to the LCD, coupled with another juke's audio output, makes coping a bit easier.

This reminds me of the donkey Marc Chagall painted in / with his little Russian village, in a lot of his paintings. Shot thru the viewfinder of my old Sony with my new Sony. It's a rubber deer mask lying on a weathered wood deck where once stood a shed (which got pulverized by hurricane Ivan). This is my first time experimenting with ttv (through the viewfinder) and I'm not even sure an LCD screen qualifies, but I couldn't figure out how to get the little marks like "CAF" and the 'no flash' icon to go away.

I shot the LCD screen of another photographer (Margaret Warren, who was shooting with a Nikon D50, I think) right after she shot me. No, but wait, that's another photo (called "good dentists"). This is a shot of the LCD screen (functioning as the viewfinder when he shot the pic) of a *third* photographer / artist (and scientist), the illustrious Pat Hayes.

Z-Finder EVF Video Series ~ Part 5: “It’s All About Power”

In The Great Battery Shootout 2011, Steve, Jens, Scott & Karen discuss

the battery design for the new EVF in comparison to Canon’s DSLR

battery. Discharge rate & recharge rates determine the winner.

ABOUT ZACUTO'S EVF VIEWFINDER

Zacuto is changing the game again! We are transforming the form factor of DSLR cameras for video use with our Z-Finder EVF. The Z-Finder EVF is a 3.2” high resolution monitor that will be used in conjunction with all the Z-Finder models. The Z-Finder EVF allows you to operate the DSLR camera with the correct form factor for video with the camera "in-line" to your rod system (the most stable way) and your eye in the Z-Finder EVF. It will enhance the stability, give you better resolution, allow you to get your eye where it most comfortably needs to be, enable low mode shooting, have your EVF in the back of a dolly or crane, detached from the rig for car shots and more.

Zacuto Z-Finder EVF 3.2” monitor has higher resolution than DSLR LCD screens. These screens have a resolution of 640×480 on a 3:2 aspect ratio screen. Therefore, you only effectively see the resolution at 640×360 in 16×9. The Zacuto Z-Finder EVF monitor resolution is a true 800×480 making the resolution 56% greater than the on-board DSLR camera screens. The Zacuto monitor also has a tighter dot pitch which also improves the quality, making you see a much tighter pixel pattern.

Shot through the viewfinder of my old camera with my new camera -- actually, I shot the LCD screen, because what do I know? It was my first time experimenting with ttv. Oh well. Better luck next time, I hope. It's kind of funny, though. I thought of all kinds of tags for this. Feel free to add your own tags, too.

The whole broken screen Tron thing is fine until people start chiming in.

Another take didn't see as much commentary.

And it worked! This is the desktop of Ubuntu Studio, booted into normally. The Shuttle is back together, with all peripherals stowed again. I can't wait to see if it all worked out tonight, as I didn't have time on my lunch break to get any further with this.

Preinstalled are all manner of audio/visual tools. Obviously, being where it is, I'm most interested in the audio setup.

This should interface well with my Yamaha DGX-620 piano, below the monitor, and allow me to set up training software, and record, and mix things, and dump them back out again. It also has video editing. I'm going to need a little solution for the mouse, and keyboard, as they're not stable on the piano, nor kind to its various plastic finishes. I have some ideas for that, though. More to follow soon.

I've fallen out of love with blue screens since my Windows days (too reminiscent), so I'll be changing this login splash to a different image, which IIRC is made easy in these GNOME-based distros.

Power problems including blackouts, brownouts, power surges and line noise interference threaten your investment! They can damage or destroy PCs, audio/video components and other expensive equipment, wipe out valuable data and files, erase component settings, and degrade component performance. Get protected against these all-too-common power threats with Tripp Lite’s SMART1000LCD Digital UPS System. It provides reliable battery backup that can keep entry-level PC systems operational for up to 60 minutes during blackouts. Automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects low-voltage conditions (brownouts) back to safe 120V power without draining the UPS battery. Surge suppression and EMI/RFI line noise filtering prevent hardware damage and performance problems such as poor-quality audio and video output. A large illuminated LCD screen with dimmer switch shows incoming power conditions and UPS operations in real time.

How it survived my attentions is beyond me, but its owner is very happy.

Thanks to FastMac.

A short train ride from Kyoto and a later morning arrival into Osaka later, I had lunch in the Chinese restaurant located in the lobby of my hotel (give me a break, I've just arrived here after a busy morning!) and set out to explore Osaka a short while later, after placing my luggage in my room upstairs. The first order of business for the (rest of) the day was a visit to the Osaka Museum of History, located interestingly on the upper floors of a building housing Japan's national tv broadcaster NHK World. Entry to the Osaka Museum of History is through this large lobby on the ground floor of the NHK broadcasting house, complete with a large TV screen at one end broadcasting interesting programmes, interspersed with the news. The Osaka Museum of History Ōsaka Rekishi Hakubutsukan) opened in 2003 in a tall building next to NHK Osaka and just across the street from Osaka Castle. The building offers excellent views of the castle from its top floors, sadly spoiled by the reflections on the glass- I have however taken a shot of it, for whatever it is worth. (see subsequent pictures later in this album). (Osaka, Japan, Apr/ May 2019)

I've started an experiment/project

While at the zoo, I noticed people standing next to eachother, taking a picture of the same animal in the dead center of the frame. Quite possibly, they would not even be able to recognise their own photo between a series of other zoo visitors.

That notice brought me to the idea of taking pictures of their camera's LCD screens, since maybe it makes no difference who took the picture. I was there as well and it was my moment as much as theirs. Besides, I took the photo before they pushed down on the shutter release button so it is my photo anyway.

I might relive the moment differently when looking at the photo later on but the image that may trigger the recall of my memory might just as well be theirs and vice versa.
