Gamma Ray è il nome di un gruppo musicale power metal tedesco, fondato nel 1989 dal chitarrista e cantante Kai Hansen dopo la sua uscita dagli Helloween.
Nel 1988, dopo aver fatto i primi tre album con gli Helloween (Walls of Jericho e i primi due Keeper of the Seven Keys), il chitarrista e compositore Kai Hansen decise di lasciare la band. Il motivo di tale decisione è stata la diversità di idee circa l'evoluzione del gruppo avute con l'allora cantante Michael Kiske. Inizialmente aiutò i Blind Guardian nella realizzazione di alcuni lavori in studio. Infine decise di dare vita ad un suo progetto con il suo vecchio amico Ralf Scheepers (cantante) e con Uwe Wessel (bassista) e Mathias Burchardt (batterista). I Gamma Ray erano nati e senza sorpresa da parte di nessuno, il loro sound era molto vicino a quello degli Helloween.

Koh Kai Island is located between Phuket and Phi Phi Islands and a popular stop over for Speedboat tours to Phi Phi

The beginning of the old runway was a sea wall and in October 1958 the new runway was built and due to be opened in a few days ("Cat's eyes" Cunningham would fly in a BOAC Comet 4) when a MATS DC4 caught the sea wall, damaging the undercarriage and caught fire It finished up in the middle of the runway and burnt out. No-one aboard was injured except a US Airman who broke his ankle after jumping off the wing.
Almost immediately a pair of Venoms "needed to" scramble so they were the first aircraft to use the new runway!
