I can't wait until the nights are longer and I can actually go outside for a change.
First day back at school; it hasn't changed.
Another self portrait. The narcissistic side of me has missed them.
A little.

Over a foot of snow and a wind chill in the negatives... I think I'll stay in bed today
(in hindsight, I should have taken this from a lower angle, but hey, my first floaty picture!)
It was foggy and cold everywhere down below, but warm and sunny up at the top. This is one of the peaks in the Tatoosh Range, near Mt. Rainier in Paradise National Park. The full sun and temps in the 50's made for high contrast light, but a wonderful afternoon! Normally it would have been much colder - perhaps global warming is catching up to us.

the morning sun makes me almost giddy. even when it's bitterly cold...as long as the sun shines i can take it.
And just like that the snow came early. School was closed and my half worn summer tyres reached their limit even with clever controls! Snow chains are now fitted ready for the track tomorrow morning but I suspect schools will be out for the rest of the week!
Part of my strategic plan for the indoctrination of railways to my four grandsons (and one granddaughter) currently aged from 10 months to 7 years is "The Blue Train Track". I have been steadily adding to it during 2017 and have just had a couple of operating days with my grandchildren before four of them go back/start school. Here we have Diesel on the high level line with a transfer freight with Knapford carriage sidings below and Knapford station and docks in the distance
