When I grew up, my parents always had at least a few of these around the house. Last time I had one, it didn’t do very well. I love these plants. They remind me of my childhood.

“Crassula ovata, commonly known as jade plant, lucky plant, money plant or money tree, is a succulent plant with small pink or white flowers that is native to the KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces of South Africa, and Mozambique; it is common as a houseplant worldwide.[2] Much of its popularity stems from the low levels of care needed; the jade plant requires little water and can survive in most indoor conditions. It is sometimes referred to as the money tree; however, Pachira aquatica also has this nickname.”

I have reworked this image it being my most viewed image with over 58000 hits mainly worked eyes as the orig shot had 4 catch lights and I have just left one in each eye your thoughts and comments are most welcome
This small jade bowl I bought for my mother while I was living in China. It's now celebrating this first morning of sunlight in 8 or 9 days here in California.

Breccia Cliffs tower above a hiker at Jade Lake in the Absaroka Mountains of Shoshone National Forest west of Dubois Wyoming. The Bark Beetle has decimated the forest throughout the area, but it is still pretty here.

(Getting her out into natural light surrounded by all this white snow it becomes very noticeable that her face doesn’t quite match her body. I wonder if Hungarian would be too dark for her?!)
When I was a young child, my mother used to take me to the Walker Art Gallery in Minneapolis. I wa fascinated by this and looked forward to studying it deeply every time - it was full of stories. Some years later, it was moved to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts where I recently visited it again. It's still wonderful. Supposed to be the largest piece of carved jade in the world.
