Day 309 of 365 (Year Two)
One of the advantages of not working is not having to wait in long lines on election day. I got up, got dressed and was out the door and back in under an hour. From what I have heard from some others, the lines at some of the other locations were much much longer, which I take as a good sign. I know who I hope wins, but regardless of who does end up winning, I am glad to see voter turn out increasing every election.
I have to say that I am also quite happy that the day is finally here and all of the e-mails, commercials, etc. will finally, I hope, stop. Now I can look forward to four years of my republican friends whining about . . .oh wait, it isn't official yet is it? LOL
No lines in my corner of the world at 11:30 - but a steady stream of people moving through to place their votes. My precinct does this well.
Turned out well - I was a little worried about how long I could stand. I had no need for worries.
Knee update: Saw an orthopedist today. While I do have a mild meniscus tear, that's not what's causing the bulk of the problem. I have some pretty significant arthritis, it is terribly inflamed and swollen inside the knee and there's something that leaked even more fluid into the area. My doctor prescribed physical therapy and gave me a cortisone shot that should start working tomorrow. No surgery - so that's good. Can start walking on it soon as it feels okay to do it. So - my future will be PT, exercise and serious weight loss. I'm determined to do what I need to do to never have to look at a crutch again.
Wow, am I ever glad to have my "Thrifty Fifty" lens back*! That affordable little 50mm 1.8 lens takes such nice pictures with incredible depth of field!
*My camera bag was stolen from the car about a month ago so I lost my Rebel, kit lens, 50mm lens and the Tamrac bag itself. While I don't mind "having" to use Rob's 30D in the meantime, I can't wait for the insurance claim to get settled so I can get my own camera again. The 50mm is so cheap, $79, that I decided to just buy another while we wait for a check from the insurance company.
Voting in local elections is important because the mayor in Jaws is still the mayor in Jaws II . And we all know how that chomped out.
By which I mean, tried to disrupt democracy by pulling down the very interesting cardboard polling station.
What an honor to actually be able to vote.
To vote for someone I believe in.
Someone who believes in me.

And, yes, that is a photo of my actual ballot. I voted for Yoda for President. I put a lot of thought into it, and I think Yoda is the best candidate -- certainly better than any of the OTHER options they presented.
I will admit that my selection for VP was a bit of a snap decision -- so much was made of the presidential candidates, I almost forgot about VP, esp as they are all on 'tickets' (you pick either and you're stuck with both), but I was all for Picard/Riker '92 and '96, so I figure Picard would be as good a VP as anyone else.
Edit: Hey! Yoda made Explore!! #182 when I found it, and 'dropping' according to BigHugeLabs...but my vote made Explore! Too cool!

I'm a few days late (NC's primaries were on Tuesday the 6th), but I had to step back from these photos for a few days to decide if I really wanted to put one on flickr.
I won't comment on who I voted for, but the whole process was rather exciting (in a very odd way). And I got a special ballot (because I'm still only 17).
I'd like to take this moment to emphasize to you, the viewer, the symbolic interpretation of the leaf in this photo. You see, the leaf's many veins stem from one point, legitimate/political authority, and they branch out, representing the many and varied branches of government; however, the common perception of this complex yet...oh wait, sorry...I'm still running in AP test mode. I've got to stop over analyzing things ;-) hehe

Every time I go in to vote I feel like it is going to be difficult - but so far it has always turned out to be super easy & quick. This vote was no different.
