I voted! i was number 290 at my particular place. No line, but that could be because it was at 12:15 and I live in the suburbs. Saw that my little bro was # 21 this morning. Awesome.

I did the early volting today. Thanks to the Texas Governor, early voting started one week earlier than the normal duration this year due to covid-19. The wait time was negligible. The polling officials at the poll station were helpful. Voters I saw and the polling officials were all wearing masks. To minimize physical contact with the electronic voting machine, we were given this slylus to make our selections.
I am going to keep this slylus as a souvenir. No doubt historians will write a lot about this years for many years to come.
You're not supposed to wear partisan political stuff when you vote (at least, that's what the "rules" are), but today, to go vote, I wore my Dee Snider Twisted Sister shirt and my shark pendant.

The "Rays Bear" did his civic duty today by taking advantage of early voting, since he's not going to have much of an opportunity to go on Election Day. He stopped close to the early voting precinct afterwards to show off his accomplishment. Ultimately, though, he hopes he voted for the best candidate.

November 4, 2008 - (Maryland) I voted...YAY! But also if you voted in (MD/VA/DC) you could get freebies from Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, California Tortilla, Ben & Jerry's, Dino and others (thanks DCist). So wiith my voting sticker on me, I took advantage of this after voting: first stop Krispy Kreme I showed them my "I Voted" sticker and got a special, star-shaped donut with "patriotic sprinkles" (there was a good line there). Then almost next door was Starbucks so I got me a Tall Hot Chocolate, all I had to say was that I voted...YAY, there was also a good line there. The last and final stop was California Tortilla, to get a free all I had to show was my "I Voted" sticker, I opted for the coupon (which expires 11/11/08)....All hats left is a free scoop ice cream from Ben & Jerry's (only from 5-8pm) and a free two-cheese plate at Dino.

The true symbol of democracy in America -- The smug satisfaction of getting to wear the elusive "I Voted" sticker.
It was the only reason I bothered voting, to be honest.

Some of us have been waitiing for this for 20 months. The world has been waiting for this for 400 years.
There was a time in U. S history when some people could not bang a gong, blow a horn or beat a drum and people were imprisoned for teaching other human beings to read.
Today's results could change the world.
Today I can do something no one who shares my family history could ever do. I can look at my grandchild and say with conviction: Yes- if you work hard, you can grow up to be president of the United States.
I Voted! So did millions of other people, but for some reason I felt a great sense of relief. Maybe it's because there was no traffic getting to the poll...I didn't leave work until 5:45. Or the fact that I was in and out of the poll in less than 4 minutes...none of that 1 hour wait in line Bull Shit. Or maybe because the weather cleared up...it was rainy all day.
There was one hiccup in my voting experience though. It was still wet outside and I walked onto a freshly polished floor in the lobby of my voting location. Apparently a slick floor and wet dress shoes don't mix and I slipped and fell right there in the middle of the lobby. I didn't just fall, I fuckin' ate it! Luckily everyone had already voted and only the guy at the lobby desk witnessed this event. I tried to play it off all cool like, but when I went to pick my Blackberry up off the floor, I slipped again. Sweet!

Oregon is a vote-by-mail state. Unfortunately, they don't include an "I Voted" sticker in your packet. But, there is this awesome "SECRECY ENVELOPE" which makes me feel all cloak-and-dagger.
