No I didn't use a finger nail or any other implement to gouge a face out in this plant. Infact the leaves forming the face are only about 3 mm wide and invisible to the eye. I didn't see it at the time and only noticed it when i did a heavy crop also it only appeared on the shots taken with a flash.
Orchids in general look like little alien plants, their open mouths and dramatic pose makes them truly look alive! HMM
Dicyrtoma fusca :
The springtail was moving during the stack and I kept the moving from the antennae in the stack of 3 images in Zerene Pmax so you can see it's realy alive !
the macromonday theme for 12/12 is it's alive
so there are 3 sorts-- pine needles, an oak leaf, and the puff ball
(347/366) My Flickr friends may recall that when my parents came over from the UK to visit us in mid October my Dad brought me some cuttings from his Fuchsia plants. Finally after about 6 weeks of standing in a glass of water on our kitchen windowsill they all developed roots & I've potted them on. This one (on the left in the first photo in the comments below) has new leaves growing. A quick iPhone shot for Macro Mondays theme “It’s Alive!”.
If anyone is up for the challenge of achieving a daily photograph next year check out my 2017 : one photo each day group

My goal was to make the whole image feel alive. Water is the source of all life so it had to be included so my focus is on the water drop and I sprayed water behind the wheat grass while I shot the image.
ODC - dusty or dirty (dust on my sensor, lots of cloning this morning)

We discovered in our salad this litlle cute fellow. At the time I had a broken wrist, but I couldn't resist.
I made up a DIY macro studio, with a flash and Kitchen paper towel and took few shoots of the creature. This is my favourite one.
For this week’s Macro Mondays ‘It's Alive’ theme, I have chosen to photograph an old, moss covered wall.
There are over 600 species of moss in the UK, and after a little research, I was able to identify this particular variety as Common Pincushion moss (Dicranoweisia cirrata).
Common Pincushion moss is a small to medium-sized plant, usually forming neat, yellow-green to mid-green cushions to 3 cm tall. The leaves are about 2.5 mm long, narrowly spearhead-shaped and gradually taper to a finely acute tip.
Very simple lighting; it’s all natural.

Macro Monday - It's alive
There isn't much alive in the garden at the moment, but we do have a winter flowering clematis. So I picked a couple of the tiny buds. HMM
this week's MM theme: it's alive
this leaf had fallen into one of my hanging flower baskets and was catching the morning light in its last days of being alive
I'm not sure how I spotted these tiny plants growing out of a cork. The cork is about the diameter of a penny. Just goes to show that life is irrepressible!
This is likely some sort of fungi. I have two small wasp trappers that are corked at the top. One of them had sugar water in it (which did NOT trap any wasps) and the other did not. One cork grew this and the other did not. It's hard to describe just how miniscule these little plants are...
Happy Macro Monday!
Correction - these are lacewing eggs and I think they're dead :) Thank you to Mary Wolfe for the identification!
It's Alive ... Redux 2016 - My Favorite Theme of the Year
My daughter brought home a kitty, who fell asleep in a Christmas bag. Happy Macro Monday!!
But *handle with care*, it's a chili pepper ;-).
In fact a variety called "Lila Luzi" ("Purple Lucy"), which turns purple when ripe. Since it's from my balcony and it is winter now, it did not finish its ripening process and stayed red. "Lila Luzi" isn't the hottest chili pepper, but it looks nice.
Inside you see the seeds which, once dried, could be used to grow a new chili plant.
The pepper/pod is about 1,8 cm / 0,708661 inches long.
I decided to "white-out" the background. For some reason I had used air cushion foil as a background, I guess I had hoped for a nice effect, but... ;-). Couldn't take another shot on Monday, as by then the pepper had dried and the ones from my fridge were the regular long Thai chilies, so I had to go with what I already had ;-).
Happy Macro Monday everyone!
We've had over two feet of snow in the last 36 hours. Our white pine tree is still alive as the snow starts to melt today. Very unusual for us to get snow like that here in the Comox Valley.

"Anything goes" or equally "It's alive." with the possibility of being titled "Bokeh" as well, although I didn't see that on the list for today's theme.
A Grevillea fililoba ~ A Spider flower. I took a photo of the flower bud back in November and was chuffed to see that they are now beginning to flower:
