Concarneau has made its living from the fishing industry for hundreds of years and the town remains an important center: more than 100,000 tonnes of tuna are caught each year by Concarneau-based boats.

Concarneau is the third most important fishing port of France.

The town has two distinct areas: the modern town on the mainland and the medieval Ville Close, a walled town on a long island in the center of the harbour. Historically, the old town was a center of shipbuilding. The Ville Close is now devoted to tourism with many restaurants and shops aimed at tourists. However restraint has been shown in resisting the worst excesses of souvenir shops. Also in the Ville Close is the fishing museum. The Ville Close is connected to the town by a bridge and at the other end a ferry to the village of Lanriec on the other side of the harbor.

I want to wish everyone much happiness, wherever you are in the world, for the holiday season!!

Sint Nicholaskerk is the most seen and at the same time overlooked church in Amsterdam as well as being one its most recent constructions, no one can miss this iconic structure upon arrival to the city walking from Centraal Station your eye is immediately drawn to it at 58 m in height it towers over the city skyline.

This Roman Catholic Church was designed by Architect Adrianus Bleijs and is a nod to the past combining elements of neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance styles, completed in 1887 it was made a minor Basilica in 2012.

The church is dedicated to the 4th century charitable patron saint of children that became our Santa Claus as well as the patron saint of sailors and prostitutes, another winning combination.

In the Netherlands Santa Claus is known as Sinterklaas and a feast has been celebrated for over 700 years in his name and adopted in the early part of 20th century the tradition of leaving small gifts in children’s shoes was practiced on Dec 6th which has evolved now to become a Dec 5th evening tradition of gathering of family and friends to exchange gifts and laughter.

While Dutch Sinterklaas celebrations are mainly for the children its adult component is an annual grievance poem written to the recipient that must rhyme and be read out loud by the subject at the evening party all in good fun but beware you may get as good as you give.

I took this on Sept 10th, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 58mm 15 sec f/16 ISO100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

At its most beautiful in the Winter, Distant Edge Coast is a breath of fresh air from the Northern Isles. A remote and serene place where you can reconnect with nature and truly be at peace. Visit Distant Edge Coast and Ice skate in the bay, enjoy music in the pub or just relax with a flask of hot chocolate and take in the atmosphere.

Notorious for its elusiveness this Cetti's Warbler was skulking deep in lakeside vegetation at Blashford Lakes. Its loud song exploded into the air at times punching way above its weight.

its been a few weeks in and out of hospital but finally I am back although limited time I get to be in your arms and will feel stronger every day. I love you forever and a day x

Please, please please no graphics with your comment.

Its hard not to shoot wide when you are at Great Sand Dunes National Park. Yes, I shot with the zoom too, but its almost like you fight to arm from reaching for the wide angle. The scene is so magical and the expanses so very wide, that you want to capture it all in one image. Thing is, when you do that, you squish the dunes. In this case, I let myself go and went wide. Even this is cropped a bit but I let myself squish the dunes, to show off the sky. It was rainy this day, just the kind of weather you actually want to have when on the dunes. Angy sky's.

Let me know what you think. Indulge the reflex?

It isn't even mid-December and we have had half a dozen hoarfrost mornings already. I've gone rushing out to the wild prairie a few times, and other days I've done a walk around the village. On one of those morning walks, I noticed a lilac bush, its leaves and branches heavily coated with glittering frost. Very beautiful.

Its history and commercial dynamism make the little town of Malestroit seem bigger than it looks! Labelled a ‘Small town of character’ (‘Petit Cité de Caractère’) Malestroit has fascinating historic streets that lead from the banks of the River Oust to the walled town, lined with stone facades and half-timbered houses. As you explore this ancient town you’ll come across some interesting sculptures, relics of a tumultuous history and prosperous trading past.

Set in a loop of the River Oust, Malestroit was founded in the 11th century, overlooked by a feudal motte and later a fortress, built on an island between the two arms of the river, controlling the passage along the waterway. In the 16th century, the construction of two chamber locks, among the first in France, linked Malestroit to Redon; trade flourished and this led to the town’s expansion. Four suburbs grew up around the historic centre and its ruined ramparts. Narrow streets open out towards the Nantes-Brest Canal, the lock and the tow path.

Its been a while! Lots been going on.

Anyway, our DnD campaign finished, and i thought i would commemorate with an epilogue-ish photo. So, here's my water genasi, enjoying the spoils of her travels with her trusty tressym by her side.

Jökulsárgljúfur National Park is a former national park situated in the north of Iceland around the river Jökulsá á Fjöllum. It lies to the north of the Dettifoss waterfall. On 7 June 2008, it became a part of the larger Vatnajökull National Park

The area is of interest because of its chaotic canyon and volcanic mountains. Eight thousand years ago, volcanic fissures of the Askja volcanic system erupted directly underneath the river and glacial ice. This caused explosions and chaotic flooding.

The center of the park was Vesturdalur with Hljóðaklettar (rock of echoes). Rauðhólar (red mountain) is of interest because of its special colouring due to iron oxidations. Another sight is the canyon of Ásbyrgi to the north of the park which is formed like a horseshoe.
