No supercar has cut a more dramatic swath through popular consciousness than the Lamborghini Countach. Jaw-dropping upon its introduction, each iteration of the model thrilled in its own unique wayโbut the Countach 25th Anniversary Edition was the most evolved, and the most extreme, of all. Beyond their roaring 5.2-liter V-12 and 183-mph top speed, these cars are notable for the aerodynamic enhancements, developed by hypercar maestro Horacio Pagani, that gave them an unforgettable look.
Named in celebration of 25 years of the Lamborghini marque, only 657 examplesโincluding the stunning Rosso over Champagne example offered hereโwere sold worldwide before the arrival of the Countachโs replacement, the Diablo, in 1990. Delivered new to the United States market, the car was enjoyed by owners in California and Texas prior to acquisition by the consignor, St. Louis, Missouri-based enthusiast Mark McCloskey, in 1999, then showing 4,500 miles.
As invoices on file dating back to 2001 and totaling over $68,000 demonstrate, no expense has been spared on the Countachโs upkeep. Since 2015, the car has been serviced by Lamborghini specialists Evans Automotive Repair of Columbus, Ohio; this included an engine-out service, transmission overhaul (including the installation of a Kevlar clutch kit), and work on the lubrication and cooling systems, plus detailing, paintwork, and replacement of perishable hoses and rubber seals. Additional work has been carried out by Lamborghini of St. Louis, and it benefitted from a final major service visit to Evans Automotive Repair in December 2023.
This most recent service visit included diagnosis and repair of the carโs electrical system; a cosmetic refresh of the trunk, glove compartment, and door panel surfaces as-needed; detailing and touch-up painting of the undercarriage; replacement of engine deck lid, front and rear trunk lid, and door hydraulic struts; air conditioning service; an engine oil, transmission fluid, rear gear oil, and brake fluid flush; as well as the fitment of four new tires. The total cost of this work was in excess of $16,000, as shown in invoices on file.
Under McCloskeyโs care, the American-market front bumper was replaced with a smaller European-specification unit; should its next owner wish to return the Lamborghini to its as-delivered appearance, its original bumper accompanies the sale. Also accompanying are ownerโs and maintenance manuals, as well as a tool roll. The carโs odometer currently displays 15,430 kilometers (~9,588 miles) at time of cataloguing, reflecting consistent but moderate exercise over the past 24 years of ownership.

Pacific Partnership, now in its 14th iteration, is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Each year, the mission team works collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase stability and security in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships in the Indo-Pacific. The U.S. Coast Guard's representatives for the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) portion shared best-practices in emergency management, search and rescue, and boat operations with the RMI Sea Patrol, Police and First Responders. Subject matter expert exchanges were conducted in Majuro, Kwajalein and Ebeye. All photos by Kevin Cooper, James Garland or Luke Berghuis.
The Transformers Studio 86 Blaster. A recolour/repaint of the Kingdom version, this release annoyed many collectors by having the price spike despite basically offering the exact same as previous iterations, though I guess it has a nice fancy cardboard backdrop. Perhaps the biggest change is the fact that Eject is no long made of translucent plastic, a material that has many collectors a bit anxious due to its brittle nature.
Luckily for me, I actually didn't get any of the previous ones, though I have to admit the price did suck, almost $65 CAD after taxes, released as a Toys R US exclusive here in Canada.
So as far as content goes, because of Eject there aren't exactly a lot of accessories, just the blaster, though to be honest the original didn't exactly come with much either.
Articulation is again, pretty standard for a Mainline figure, and thanks to a flap on the back of the waist the figure can actually kick backwards. For whatever reason, they gave the right hand an extended index finger, which I guess was to allow for the figure to be able to press its own eject button, but sadly the figure acks articulation to actually be able to recreate said pose.
Transformation is not as simple as back in the G1 days, though ultimately it is for the better as the resuling radio mode is certainly more realisitic than the G1 toy, though you're gonna have people who lament the loss of sheer size. Can't really comment on the complexity of the Eject transformation, having never played with one as a child, but based on photographs I'd have to say that things are probably similar, but there's certainly no doubt in my mind that the G1 figures had a more convincing tape mode (not that kids these days know what a tape should look like anyway).
As mentioned earlier, the tape deck door does actually open for the insertion of Eject in tape mode.
Paint Work is nice though as always the actual amount of paint on the figure is questionable. I think it's mostly on the tape deck door and face, with some work on the hips and the part that makes up the bottom of the tape deck.
Build Quality wise, nothing out of the ordinary was experienced.

This version of Iteration uses an 8.8 fixed-point custom back buffer for compositing and compresses to a rgb_565 bitmap on the fly for faster display. I also added a bit of statistical antialiasing/softening to spread out the brightest pixels a bit.
After a lot of hard work, I found native-software floating point math is about the same speed as my interpreted-software fixed point math (including the use of look-up tables).

Another great iteration of the Konami booth by Sparks Exhibits at G2E 2016 in Las Vegas, NV. Our system of automated lighting was a nice way to enhance the articulated LED Wall. Always an exciting property, the dynamic space was again an excellent branded platform to showcase the gaming systems of Konami.
Character designs go through many iterations before a final concept is locked. In fact, itโs very rare (if ever) that a single lone design for a character will be green-lit without exploring other options. Here, we see some early iterative concepts of Yoda (from Star Wars). By themselves, they allude to the final concept, but individually are both strikingly different from each other and the Yoda that the public knows and loves. Despite these differences, it is only through this process of exploration among many concepts that the Yoda we see in the movies was born.
Had to travel for the first time in awhile and decided to challenge myself with a point and shoot from the past, a Petri Color35. Very small camera, zone focusing, manual with in my case a non-working meter (not a big deal) but totally non-calibrated shutter speeds (a bigger deal). I've used this equipment before, but I'm just not sure of the shutter speeds so just tried to sit at either 1/60 or B and hope for the best. What I learned is my total lack of confidence in exposure will make me work out the accuracy before I bring this otherwise fun little camera out the next time. Lots of guessing the guesswork, taking notes, and finding out some wildly different numbers and exposures. Good to learn one's limitations. Thanks again to all the flickeranians who keep pushing us to think more deeply - you all are inspiring!
