Changed the pedals, swapped grips (small-size ergons with tiny bar ends to large-size ergons with no bar ends plus add-on bar ends) and did a bit of rivendell styling on the bar ends.
I replaced the rear smart sam tire with a mondial. Going to take the smart sam home and put it on the front of my hamilton, with the other mondial in the back. This way both bikes will have "matching" tires. Matching with each other, that is.
I decided to return the brooks cambium that I tried out. I did a 30 mile ride on it and got the worst case of saddle sore I ever had. The thing looked totally gorgeous, but unfortunately I don't get to look at it while I'm riding. I decided that my $30 charge spoon saddle is a better deal, even if I have to replace it every year. (5 spoon saddles for the price of 1 cambium.)
I removed the large basket off the front to take that home. I was planning on buying a 2nd basket, but riv is out of stock. Since I don't need a basket on a bike when I'm not riding it, I'm taking it home. I'll get another basked next time I'm in SF.
Speaking of baskets from rivendell, if you're going to get one, go ahead and get the "huge". I have the smaller one, and realized it's too small. If you're going to be a dork and have a basked on your bike, go all in. Get the huge. It's just way more useful.

Alex's approach demonstrates precisely and accurately the method of idea generation and refinement promoted by the department. Note the large number of drawings on eachpage. this allows the student to easily cross reference and tag from one idea to the next. Extensive annotation also helps to reveal design thinking and comments should always be relevant and refer back to the specification. It is clear that Alex has a thorough understanding of the more technical aspects of the course and he repeatedly suggests ways in which his concepts might be made.

SIX is an experimental electronic, surround sound performance series presented by the BFA in Video and Sound program. This iteration of SIX will feature renowned international sound artist Robert Henke along with several other performers. In lieu of traditional listening orientation, the music and sound is produced in an open, multi-directional format. This allows the performer, sound, environment, and audience to form an exploratory relationship. The audience is encouraged to walk around, lay down (bring a pillow or blanket if you like), and experience the sound from different angles.

DWEOMER (Jef Drawbaugh ) is an urban druid of sound. His new work is in sound design and composition for media, leaning heavily on cinematic themes. His live music and recorded soundscapes blossom with connections and juxtapositions between the technical world of electronic instruments and songcraft, rife with the fluid and nebulous areas of the cosmos and emotional response. He discovers patterns and shapes amidst chaotic spaces and lets stories unfold through cosmic voyages.

An artist might iterate on an old project because recent events have made it easier to portray their original idea more effectively, such as an increase in skill or time allotted.
My work has become more subtle in its digitization since the beginning of this class.
Strengths I applied to this project include my ability with Live Paint in Illustrator combined with my concrete skills with the physical artistry of the calligraphy pen and ink.
On this project I had to work through challenges with the artboards in Illustrator (artwork bounds) and with adjusting the paths of an image that is imported with Image Trace (knife tool).

CAMP ITAMI, Japan - Yama Sakura 69 stands as the latest iteration of one of the world’s largest bilateral command post exercises. More than a 1,000 American and Japanese service members stationed throughout the Pacific implement cutting edge technology to fight a fictitious foe threatening Japan’s sovereignty.
As sophisticated computer programs project scores of simulated battles on hundreds of screens, a small yet expertly trained group of U.S. Army Soldiers, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) service members and Department of Defense civilians maintain and monitor a cohesive network that connects two Armies training across thousands of square miles.
Led by U.S. Army Japan, YS 69’s G6 section coordinates with its JGSDF counterparts to develop a reliable system that produces realistic training simulations while simultaneously establishing thousands of communication links that enable the countless phone calls, email messages and video teleconferences necessary to establish command and control of the virtual battlefield.
Since the team’s arrival in mid-November, G6 has overcome a myriad of challenges from internet connectivity to live video streaming to create a common operating picture that demonstrates the empowering partnership between the U.S. Army and JGSDF. Many members of the team will remain in Camp Itami in the days after the exercise's conclusion to repack equipment and reconfigure networks.

The first iteration of the Banana Republic "tagless" tee included a huge RFID tag inside the shirt at the waistline.
Now, it's a regular tag at the waistline which is actually MORE itchy than a collar tag. It scratches your waist... as by nature, it's tucked inside your pants. Pretty hilarious. It's also, very tough to remove without putting a hole in the shirt.
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (W198) was the first iteration of the SL-Class grand tourer and fastest production car in the world during that time. Introduced in 1954 as a two-seat coupé with distinctive gull-wing doors, it was later offered as an open top roadster.
Built by Daimler-Benz AG, the direct fuel injected production model was based on the company's highly successful yet somewhat less powerful carbureted overhead cam straight 6 1952 racer, the W194. 300 indicates its 3.0 litre engine displacement (300 ccs) and SL for Sport Leicht (Sport Light).
PROS: A very well shaped body made the car very similar to its racing sister W194, so while W194 was had a coefficient of drag of 0.25, the production W198 had 0.29; very low for that time and actually even for today. It allowed the car to achieve 250 kph with just more than 200 hp making it the fastest production car in the world during that era.
DEFECTS: The coupé had used a conventional swing-axle with two pivot-points outboard of the differential. If driven on trailing throttle through a tight curve, the camber change tended to lift the inside rear wheel and induce sudden oversteer, the same problem that race drivers had encountered. This was manageable for professionals, but dangerous to those less skilled. In response to this, the Roadster was fitted with a swing axle, utilizing a single low pivot-point, thereby improving the car’s cornering behavior and predictability. While driving, it's necessary to keep the rear loaded by maintaining a little acceleration.
Since it had the possibility to have about 100 kg of fuel behind rear axle, the brake balance with a nearly empty tank makes the car prone to slight oversteer. Try to brake on straights, not corners and try not push too hard on the brakes.

An "iteration of an accumulative project for Maine-based artist Rollin Leonard." So says the Space Gallery in Portland, whose window displays this "modular and flexible" work, which will be "subtly rearranged over the course of time, slowly scrambling the forms."

Overall, this single aircraft design that is ready for building and going into serial production absolutely obliterates Lockheed's SR-72 (Mach 5) by DOUBLE the margins and a fraction of the costs, and BOOM, Virgin Galactic, etc.
Sure it can economically cruise at Mach 3-4.5 supersonically at under 50% throttle as well, but 7,000-8,000 NM Range at Mach 10 at over 100,000ft altitude and normalized hypersonic flight along with 6,000F thermal resistence.

The two next iterations of modding my 430ex flash (able to be removed for regular shooting) to flash only in the IR.
V2 had a thin plastic filter over a Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce, electrical tape blocking the light from escaping and also holding it on. Not bad, but seemed to narrow the flash a lot, and didn't stay on too well. This one was on the camera for the St. Patricks day photos, and while it might have been hard to notice, it did have quite an effect, especially closer.
V3 has one of my now unused glass filters over a Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce that was cut in half, so the filter is close to but not on the flash head, and unsurprisingly electrical tape holding it on and blocking light. Looks worlds better, and seems more stable. Tested out in my messy kitchen, and works good too. Hopefully i'll be able to test this one out at a bluegrass festival this weekend.

SOLENOID is the moniker of David Chandler, who loves synthesizer music and sound design. His unique mix of experimental and dance music has found him performing in festivals in the USA and Europe. He’s had many recordings released on various formats and from various countries over the last 13 years, but his home continues to be Portland.

DWEOMER (Jef Drawbaugh ) is an urban druid of sound. His new work is in sound design and composition for media, leaning heavily on cinematic themes. His live music and recorded soundscapes blossom with connections and juxtapositions between the technical world of electronic instruments and songcraft, rife with the fluid and nebulous areas of the cosmos and emotional response. He discovers patterns and shapes amidst chaotic spaces and lets stories unfold through cosmic voyages.

MIKE JEDLICKA runs Optic Echo Records and has a weekly show on Portland Radio Authority. He uses a multitude of instruments and electronics to create a wide variety of music, recently focusing on field recording laden acoustic ambient and experimental noise. His last release was a split 12" in 2010 entitled “Tabor / NW Passage”, on Optic Echo Records.

WNDFRM is Tim Westcott, who has been working with sound as a creative medium since the early 90’s. He treats sound as an architectural element, incorporating manipulated field recordings, minimalistic sine tones, lush atmospheric harmonics, and the occasional dub-wise rhythmic foundation.

An artist may want to redo an old project to improve on it. Or simply to see how they themselves have improved.
My work has evolved towards a cleaner, more consistent theme. Less mistakes, more effort.
I used my strengths of masking, placement, and design.
A challenge for this project was having to decide which project to revisit. I ended up choosing the advocate poster to redo.
Final Portfolio:
I included this work as the project that shows what I learned in this class. It displays uses of custom shape tools, some drawing, masking, typography, and thematic advocation. It is also one of my favorite works I've done.
A majority of the Macross Valkyrie VF-1 toys in my collection. Some are fully (if not perfectly) transformable.
The 'S' variant featuring pairs of double cannons on the head/turret is reserved for CAGs (Commander, Air Group).
The department has been building up a library of design related reference books over the last few years. Pupils are encouraged to make use of these books on a regular basis. The photographs here demonstrate the tremendous wealth of content contained therein.
The sequence has been shot in such a way that the cover of the book is shown first and a few sample pages are included to give the student an idea of the content the book contains. Pupils may then approach staff and request a short term loan.
Alex had a unique approach to the production of his design folio work. Alex was constantly drawing. He spent most of his classtime just drawing, even when he was supposed to be doing something else. He needed to draw to think. So what you see here isn't necessarily pretty but this folio is stuffed with ideas. Alex's approach demonstrates precisely and accurately the method of idea generation and refinement promoted by the department. Note the large number of drawings on eachpage. this allows the student to easily cross reference and tag from one idea to the next. Extensive annotation also helps to reveal design thinking and comments should always be relevant and refer back to the specification. It is clear that Alex has a thorough understanding of the more technical aspects of the course and he repeatedly suggests ways in which his concepts might be made.
Alex went on to do very well at Higher Product Design. Some of his work also features on this site. He's now studying maths at Warwick University.
