YEI, SOUTH SUDAN, 22 MAY 2023: Women & youth are essential to build a durable peace in South Sudan. A recent UNMISS workshop by the UN Peacekeeping mission’s Protection, Transition and Reintegration Section in Yei, Central Equatoria, brought them together to discuss key protection issues and arrive at practical, community-led solutions to ensure nobody is impacted by violence again.

Slanted Magazine #23 – Swiss Issue

The Editors of Slanted magazine embarked on a two week “Tour de Suisse” and talked to some of the most innovative and interesting Swiss designers about tradition, transgression and progression. The resulting photos, text and video interviews with the 23 designers and studios give insight to contemporary design work in Switzerland and a glance behind the scenes.

The 23rd issue of Slanted magazine contains numerous essays reflecting Swiss graphic design, an illustrated section “Helvetica Illustrated”, a photo series of the former Bond-girl, Ursula Andress, interviews and a Carte Blanche in cooperation with form magazine. Also, included is a special “work and life” of typographer and graphic designer Hans Rudolf Lutz, edited and designed by students of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design under the Direction of Prof. Urs Lehni.

Furthermore, this 336-page issue utilizes materials to interpreted the opposing sides of Switzerland: A very shiny and structured surface against the raw and rough. This juxtaposition is represented in this issue with the use of the Chromolux-material. On the high glossy side, readers can follow the Tour de Suisse and the uncoated side features content of the Suisse Issue.

Thanks to Augmented Reality and the Junaio app, readers can easily watch embedded videos of the Tour de Suisse on mobile devices.

I'm really disappointed bodies's skins are the same, but Eugenia's head is really pinkish respect Imogen and in pics, with or without flash, is really a bad match.

The Big Issue contains a Woody Allen interview

In Llanelli, a few people mentioned that there was a lack of impartial information available in the run up to the referendum in the media and most news items were leaning towards one outcome. One gentleman said that he felt that as the media was the only way some people could access information having only one view promoted meant that it was difficult for people to make an informed decision. He also said that it is up to individuals to seek out information and so having the bus out and about is a good thing. One woman said that many television programmes about the referendum were broadcast too late at night, which meant she wasn't able to see as much coverage as she may have liked. Health was an important issue for one visitor, who was unhappy that the people of Llanelli had to travel further afield to receive treatment for particular needs. One woman was concerned about the reduction in public funding and its effects on community partnership work. Another member of the public said that it would be good to see processes simplified to allow for people to engage in Assembly committee consultations; he was particularly interested in raising issues via the Committee on Standards of Conduct.

Roedd y refferendwm yn bwnc poblogaidd ymysg pobl ardal Llanelli pan aeth bws y Cynulliad Cenedlaethol i’w tref hwy ddechrau’r wythnos. Barn y mwyafrif oedd y diffyg gwybodaeth ddiduedd oedd ar gael yn ystod yr ymgyrch. Nododd ambell un bod gwneud penderfyniad un ffordd neu’r llall yn dasg gymharol anodd i lawer gan mai un ochr yn unig oedd y cyfryngau yn tueddu i bortreadu. Soniodd un dyn mai cyfrifoldeb yr unigolyn ydi dod o hyd i’r wybodaeth angenrheidiol a bod bws y Cynulliad yn syniad da yn hyn o beth. Barn ymwelydd arall oedd bod llawer o’r rhaglenni teledu oedd yn canolbwyntio ar y refferendwm yn cael eu darlledu’n rhy hwyr ac nad oedd modd iddi wylio cymaint ohonynt o ganlyniad. Iechyd oedd prif bryder un dyn lleol oedd yn anhapus bod rhaid i bobl yr ardal deithio ymhell i dderbyn triniaeth arbenigol mewn ysbytai. Soniodd un ddynes ei bod yn poeni’n arw am y toriadau mewn gwariant cyhoeddus a sut y byddai hynny’n effeithio gwaith rhai cymdeithasau a phartneriaethau yn y gymuned. Dymuniad un ymwelydd oedd galluogi aelodau o’r cyhoedd i ymwneud mwy mewn ymgynghoriadau pwyllgorau’r Cynulliad, yn enwedig gyda Phwyllgor Safonau Ymddygiad.

Cheektowaga flooding Issue 2014

Blouse is too tight over bust. See gap between buttons marked with arrow. First button barely buttons...see x-shaped drag lines.

Princess seams end at bust point, which would be too close for darts. This blouse doesn't have wearing ease, much less design ease!

This note was left on dru's car when he parked downtown a couple days ago. It's hard to read because he crumpled it up in rage and disbelief. Here's what it says:

"you're a cocksucker for parking like an asshole. You left 9ft behind you. I have your lic #. Do it again and I'll fuck your car up!"

Some dude out there has issues and wishes to be annonymous. What a dick.

i remember i saw a movie, with juliette binoche, she had armpit hair and looked so lovely. i usually hate shaving and after seeing it look so cute on her i really LIKED to have armpit hair. however, i can't keep my fingers from playing with it all the time so i shaved it off today. after about 6 months. whatever suits you.

This put a smile on my face all weekend.

This guy was run off his feet selling the Big Issue to the big queue. I reckon every 15-20 minutes he sold an entire bundle and had to nip off to pick up more. The atmosphere in the queue was great and he was loving it, chatting to everyone and happily posing for photos (top right).

The queue has been like this every day for the last two months.

Meanwhile, the Oxfam bookshop over the road had a sign in the window apologising that they'd now sold all the Banksy merchandise left by a "mystery donor", to the tune of £15,000.

Think what you like about Banksy, his work, his methods and his cult of anonymity, but it's hard not to love him for this.
