… over to Bamburgh castle
In the foreground a collection of boats.
I’m not from Northumberland, I’m from Lancashire, I’ve worked in Yorkshire for 31 years and lived there for 11 years.
However, I think that Northumberland is Britain’s most beautiful county. Lush countryside, beautiful beaches, and too many castles to wave a stick at.
If you’ve never visited Northumberland I thoroughly recommend it… If you’re coming from overseas it really is a must to visit.
Looking forward to when we visit again!

Sunrise over Langley Park Lake, lovely orange colour in the early morning sky, now Covid receding more vapour trails from the jets.
As the quietness of evening deepens, a gentle breeze comes carrying the crisp scents of fallen leaves and damp soil. Together with the rustling of leaves, they form a prelude that announces the end of a long day and sets the scene for a dreamy autumn night.

“Their pennies just keep on coming in
The spirits still soaking in their sins
Some say they’re even born again
See what you can find at the end of the line
There’s no end in time at the end of the line
There’s no peace of mind at the end of the line
You can run, you can’t hide at the end of the line
And there’s no peace of mind at the end of the line.”

Barley fields forever
Nothing to get hung about
We went a walk from our holiday cottage in Scotland, in the hope of seeing some red squirrels. There’s a sign less than a mile away from us warning motorists that red squirrels are in the area. We didn’t see any.
We walked by this beautiful barley field though.

A quick iPhone picture of our instruments before we start playing at an event at Resort World Casino in Las Vegas.
Well 200 steps away!
Looking out over Stacksteads, and towards Bacup (pronounced Bake-up).
In the distance some red roofed houses can be seen, these are the exception for roofs here in east Lancashire, mainly roofs are made with blue slate. The red clay ones are becoming more popular with the sky high prices of blue slate, and the ease of use of clay ones.
With a blue slate only about a 1/3 of it is visible when in situ. The last time I bought some decent quality 2nd hand ones (2008) T they were £1.30 each - at that you’re not guaranteed that they’ll all be good.
We usually have a brief stop here at this gate, just to have a look across the valley.
I love the tractor just stopped in the field, it’s been there a couple of weeks now.
I love the wind turbines on the hills too, there’s some behind me as I took this shot too.
Happy fence Friday everybody ! #HFF

Played with some features on my new iPhone and this wonderful image had come out! But we had a blast in Sydney! There’s still more to see and more to do here in New South Wales.
Three founding members of Chicago still directing the group. On trombone is James Pankow, playing guitar is keyboardist Robert Lamb, and to the right is trumpeter Lee Loughnane. Chicago is one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups of all time. Formed in 1967, Chicago has recorded 38 albums and sold over 100 million records. The original members of the group were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
The City of Detroit is indeed coming back! Is truly is “The Renaissance City”. The aesthetics really pop with these new apartments. I’ve yet to see them on the inside, but I can only imagine how beautiful the views of Downtown really are. I’d tell folks that if you’d paid any attention to the patterns of our streets downtown, they definitely resemble the streets of Paris. Hence Detroit is still referred to-urban blight notwithstanding-as “The Paris of The Midwest” (Le Paris du Midwest)
Scenes from the Chicago concert on June 17, 2023 at Sangamon Auditorium on the University of Illinois Springfield campus. Chicago is one of the longest-running and most successful rock groups of all time. Formed in 1967 (my sophomore year of high school), Chicago has recorded 38 albums and sold over 100 million records. The original members of the group were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. Original band members Robert Lamb (keyboards), James Pankow (trombone) and Lee Loughnane (trumpet), now in their mid-to-late 70s, are still with the group and are in top form. It was a fantastic concert!!!

Sometimes my idea of fun is skimming stones into the river in the afternoon sun!
We had lunch by this river one day.

We spent Sunday in and around Bamburgh castle. It’s right on the beach too… so we had a full day.
There was originally a fort built where the castle is. The fort passed between the Britons and the Anglo Saxons three times, until the Anglo Saxons finally took control on 590.
In the 10th century the Vikings destroyed the fort.
The Normans later built the core of this castle in its place.

The image is approximately 2 inches vertically.
At Sycamore gap
A scene from the 1991 film, Robin Hood Prince of thieves took place here on Hadrian’s wall, at Sycamore gap.
It gets plenty of visitors too. It’s about a mile walk from the car park either on a path over the cliff, or by taking a Roman road. We took the Roman road.
It’s a nice walk.
… and Lindisfarne priory
Yesterday we visited Holy island (Lindisfarne).
You have to check the tide times when crossing the causeway to the island.
Fortunately the rain came after we’d visited.
It’s a nice walk around the priory, around the small town, and up to the castle.
Afterwards we had a lovely meal, back on the mainland, at the Lindisfarne inn. They’re dog friendly!

The wildlife can only look on and wait, the cormorants cannot fish or the swans and ducks feed on the weed as the lake is frozen over. Cannot walk on it yet either but if the cold nights continue that may change.

Yesterday, on route from Rothbury to Scotland, we called at the amazing Cragside estate…
The original beautiful eco home, and gorgeous gardens.
After waiting what seemed to be hours I managed to get this photo with no people or vehicles on it.
