We were in the Columbia Valley near Invermere BC for a week, and the weather outlook was generally not great. But we found a sunny day to summit Swansea Mt, which looms above the town Invermere.
from the archives....big horn sheep in the Invermere / Fairmont area of BC. What a sight to see so many....and they marched along in single file....
These Osprey provided such a great opportunity to practice flight shots. Taken on a short trip to Fairmont, British Columbia.
Many thanks for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
As I recall it was a lovely day to go bird watching, but for some strange reason we had the eerie feeling that we were the ones being watched.
I glanced behind me and upwards and there was an Osprey nest and in it a lovely specimen of a bird with what looked like binoculars attached to its' feathery head.
We wanted to stare back in defiance to this act of bird voyeurism but we left out of a concern that the large eyed spy would start tweeting his friends.
I will keep an eye out for this feathery foe next time I'm at Cabelas.
Osprey in Invermere, British Columbia - perhaps the product of a genetics experiment gone awry.
We're just back from a fabulous vacation in Invermere, BC including a couple of days in Canmore, AB and our cats have missed us as much as we've missed them. Once we'd brought Louis out to sit with us on the balcony and soak up some attention (during which he drooled profusely and stuck his tongue out while purring and being super-happy), he was totally relaxed afterwards but, once inside again, he continued to stare at us through the (somewhat smudgey) window, regularly pressing his paw against the glass and meowing just so we knew he was there. Bless.
Naturally I couldn't resist sharing for Window Wednesdays (HWW) and Monochrome Bokeh Thursday (HMBT) :-)
On our explore today we walked along a part of the Old Coach Trail situated between the towns of Radium and Invermere. Great views and many Prairie Crocuses (i.e. Purple Pasqueflower).
...the cropped version of the previous post...cuase I like the shadows and horizontal graphic look!
seen at the Kicking Horse Coffee Cafe in Invermere yesterday!!!

If you find yourself in the Invermere/Fairmont region of the Columbia River in BC, it's definitely worth doing the short hike to and around the hoodoos - just don't go too close the edge.
After I dropped Jim off at the airport, I went to Quality Greens Market for some tofu and found Kickinghorse Coffee on sale for $10.99 Ib.
This is a great deal for this brand of organic coffee.
I bought it for Jim, as I only drink coffee on a rear occassion. I'm a true herbal tea drinker.
I love the smell of coffee though....mmmmmmm
The freshness makes me want to drink it....
Aaaaa, maybe not!!!!
Thank you for you comments, visits and invites.
I truly appreciate them all...
There were Bald Eagles everywhere during our evening kayak on the Columbia River.

I saw this old homestead near the airport in Inveremere, B.C. The problem was it was on the other side of the runway. I needed to get close to it for the picture I wanted. Found a road that took me right up to it...

This is a breeding pair as evidenced by the orange on the the bill and the heavily barred breast and flanks. Those areas are much plainer in the fall.
I am flying away myself to the "Wings Over the Rockies" festival in Invermere, BC. I will be away from Flickr for about a week.
Happy shooting!

We always try to stop by here when we are in the area. They roast their own beans here, and sell them all through Western Canada, as well as serving it up at their main office in Invermere.

OK. Not singing!!! Like many towns Invermere has an abundance of 'city' deer and this one hardly stopped snacking when I aimed my lens at her.

In 2008 while visiting Invermere British Columbia we decided to take a plane tour of the Columbia Valley and the Purcell Mountains. Part of that tour included a great view of Delphine Glacier which in the past has been used by the National Cross Country Ski Team for practice.
The glacier was also the location for some of the filming of the movie Alive, the story of a rugby team involved in a plane crash in the Andes mountains on October 13, 1972.
If you look close you can see the road to the glacier and some buildings on the ice.
This mountain top seiously looked like it was erupting with that crazy cloud formation. I am certain there is a name for the cloud but I am not a meterologist :-)

We were driving along one of the many back-roads in the Columbia Valley north-east of Invermere when we came upon this particular landscape. The view "tickled my fancy" and I stopped and took a few shots.
HFF everyone.
This lovely was not in a Zoo! We spent a couple of days in Banff, Alberta and Invermere BC, and came home with a couple of interesting stories and photos.

Eagle perched patiently on a tree branch on the bluffs overlooking the Columbia River Valley near Invermere, British Columbia.
The pesky dragon fly seems to have caught the eagle's attention. I don't know the insect's fate; whether he ended up being a snack or simply a distraction.

Invermere. I have been wanting this shot for along time. I was finally in the right spot at the right time.
A Group of big horn sheep snacking along the way. This is one of the pictures from my Rocky mountain visit.

Many thanks to all those who view, fav or comment my pictures. It is much appreciated.
I am posting all of my favorite shots from my trip to Invermere. I usually don’t post so many shots all at once, but I want to get them in my photostream. If you care to comment, a comment about the series or a particular shot works for me. Flickr should be fun, not tedious. I will catch up on my contact’s recent shots over the next couple of days.
