The Litomyšl Castle is an outstanding example of an arcaded Renaissance country residence, a type of structure first invented in Italy and then developed in the Czech Lands to create a mature form with special architectural value. Situated at an important communications junction on the main route between Bohemia and Moravia, in the Pardubice region, Litomyšl was a fortified centre on the hill where the castle now stands.
The work on the Renaissance building began in 1568 under the supervision of Jan Baptista Avostalis (Giovanni Battista Avostalli), who was soon joined by his brother Oldřich (Ulrico). Most of the work had been completed by 1580. The castle interior underwent alterations between 1792 and 1796, based on the designs of Jan Kryštof Habich, but he was careful to preserve the fine building’s Renaissance appearance with impressive gables.
The castle is a four-winged, three-storeyed structure with an asymmetrical disposition. The western wing is the largest, whereas the southern wing is a two-storeyed arcaded gallery, closing the second square courtyard (a feature that is unique to Litomyšl). The groin-vaulted arcading continues around the western and eastern sides of the courtyard. The south-eastern corner of the eastern wing contains the castle chapel. One of the most striking features in the interior of the castle consists in the fine neoclassical theatre from 1796-97 in the western wing. The original painted decoration of the auditorium, stage decorations and stage machinery have survived intact. The house has richly decorated interiors, basically Renaissance in form and with lavish late Baroque or neoclassical ornamentation in the form of elaborate plasterwork and wall and ceiling paintings.
The buildings associated with the castle were all built or rebuilt during the course of the modifications that the castle itself underwent over time, and this is reflected in their architectural styles. Among the ancillary buildings, the most interesting is the Brewery, the birthplace of Bedřich Smetana, one of the greatest Czech composers of all time. It lies to the south of the first courtyard. Originally constructed to complement the castle, with Renaissance sgraffito decoration, it was remodelled by the well-know
n architect František Maximilián Kaňka after the 1728 fire and received what is its present appearance. The ensemble also includes the former French formal garden with its saletta (pavilion) in the Baroque style and an 18th-century English-style park. (whc.unesco.org/en/list/901/)

The piano is an acoustic, stringed musical instrument invented in Italy by Bartolomeo Cristofori around the year 1700 (the exact year is uncertain), in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). It is played using a keyboard, which is a row of keys (small levers) that the performer presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings.
Most modern pianos have a row of 88 black and white keys, 52 white keys for the notes of the C major scale (C, D, E, F, G, A and B) and 36 shorter black keys, which are raised above the white keys, and set further back on the keyboard. This means that the piano can play 88 different pitches (or "notes"), spanning a range of a bit over seven octaves
Also the King of Pop named Michael Jackson used the piano within his famous #earthsong !

A lava lamp is a decorative lamp, invented in 1963 by British entrepreneur Edward Craven Walker, the founder of the lighting company Mathmos.
It consists of a bolus of a special coloured wax mixture inside a glass vessel, the remainder of which contains clear or translucent liquid. The vessel is placed on a base containing an incandescent light bulb whose heat causes temporary reductions in the wax's density and the liquid's surface tension.
As the warmed wax rises through the liquid, it cools, loses its buoyancy, and falls back to the bottom of the vessel in a cycle that is visually suggestive of pāhoehoe lava, hence the name. The lamps are designed in a variety of styles and colours.
Lava lamps are often associated with hippie culture and cannabis culture.
How must it feel when you discover or invent something that bears your name forever? Well, only very few of us will be able to find out for ourselves (it's a pity).
One person who managed to do this, however, was the French painter Jacques Majorelle, in whose former garden we are here and in which, by the way, his studio was also located. His invention, if one may say so, perhaps his creation, was a color that is present everywhere here, Majorelle blue. And even if his works have been somewhat forgotten in the meantime, everyone remembers his name because of this park here.
However, this is not really, or only partially, due to Monsieur Majorelle himself, but to the famous person who bought the park in 1980, in a rather dilapidated state, and restored it to its former glory, the famous French fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent. This name, which is known worldwide, attracts around 850,000 visitors a year, making the Jardin Majorelle one of the most popular sights in all of Morocco.

The Safety match was invented to stop spontaneous combustion when matches were rubbing against each other. For that you need a specific surface to strike them against as opposed to the selfstriking ones. Of course before High Viz gear, red and for that matter white were the original colours of warning alerts.. I'm not sure if 'pants on fire' has anything to do with dangerous matches:)

The garden area of the Villa d'Este is known for the hundreds of fountains and many pools. This is the pool in front of the Fountain of the Organ. It contains a mechanism through which water flows and creates musical notes.
The Fountain of the Organ (Fontana dell'Organo) is one of the most famous features of the garden; it was described and imitated throughout Europe. Work on the masonry structure began in 1566. The fountain itself was made by the French fountain engineer Luc Leclerc and his nephew Claude Venard. After the death of Leclerc, Venard invented the ingenious mechanism of the water organ, which was installed in 1571.
The fountain was the first of its kind, and astonished everyone who heard it; when Pope Gregory XIII visited the villa in 1572, accompanied by his court of cardinals and princes, he insisted on inspecting the interior of the fountain, to learn if someone was not concealed inside making the music. tira piedritas contra mi ventana
quién sabe qué consejos voy a inventar aún

Jacob’s Ladder refers to a 300-foot section of railroad track that is a 37% grade or an elevation change of 37 feet for every 100 feet travel above the tree line on 6,288-foot Mount Washington in New Hampshire, the highest peak in the Northeast United States. There are three ways to get to the summit of Mount Washington, the famous 8-mile Mount Washington Auto Road, physically scaling/hiking the mountain and lastly the also famous Mount Washington Cog Railway. Jacob’s Ladder is part of the Mount Washington Cog Railway, which at this elevation follows a narrow ridge between two prominent chasms Burt’s Ravine & Ammonoosuc Ravine the train trestle lifts the steam engine and passenger car (which is in front of the engine) over almost 25 feet above the mountains surface. Jacob’s Ladder is the steepest section of the Cog Railway and steepest railway trestle in the world that began its service in 1869 invented by New Hampshire native Sylvester Marsh. It was the first the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway using a unique cog and rack mechanism to scale the 37% plus grades of Mount Washington and has been in continuous use since 1869. Before anti-grav engines were invented, machines like this were a common sight at spaceports. They were more adaptable, covered larger areas and required less infrastructure than cranes. The machines were also fun to fly, as can be seen from the expression on this pilot's face. Most were used for moving containers but this example is a specialist tank version, owned by the Octan corporation.
Thermoscope invented by Galileo Galilei in the early 1600s.
A brief on the science behind it:
Archimedes’ Principle: Objects float or sink depending on whether they are less or denser than the fluid they’re in.
Liquid Density: The clear liquid inside the thermoscope expands slightly as it warms, making it less dense. When it cools, it contracts and becomes denser.
Calibrated Bulbs: Each colored glass bulb has a small metal tag with a specific weight. These weights are carefully chosen so that at certain temperatures, the buoyant force matches the bulb’s weight.

Antoni Gaudí
Gaudí was an architect with an innate sense of geometry and volume, as well as a great imaginative capacity that allowed him to mentally project most of his works before moving them to plans. In fact, he rarely made detailed plans of his works; he preferred to recreate them on three-dimensional models, molding all the details as he thought of them. On other occasions, he would improvise on the fly, giving instructions to his collaborators about what they should do.
The work of Gaudí has achieved a wide international spread over the years, with countless studies dedicated to his way of understanding architecture. Nowadays, it is admired both by professionals and by the general public: La Sagrada Familia is currently one of the most visited monuments in Spain. Between 1984 and 2005 seven of its works have been considered a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
