I am learning the process of 'mapping' for FO4 which uses a different format. I decided to design something unusual and practical for my character in FO4. This is what I came up with, a 'singlet' style clothing made with a fabric much like parachute nylon. Using Illustrator for some base details (ribbing pattern) and then Photoshop (CS6) and was able to create the design. I went went with a black and white camouflage pattern, and as I found out in game, does work quite well. Obviously this goes against the 'lore' of the game but I've never stuck to the lore as I feel almost anything goes in a story like the Fallout series.

This texture is hand drawn onto the base nude male skin texture, this is not a separate mesh.

TOOLS USED:

Illustrator CS6

Photoshop CS6 / diffuse

Crazy Bump

Nvidia PH plug in / base maps

Intell Texture Works PH plug in / conversion

My second Steampunk character painting. It was quite a challenge to finish this lovely lady because of the heavy detail here. I repainted the whole scenery from a bright daylight to a darker setting which helped to get more focus to the character.

I used some references but painted mostly from my imagination which was a good practice. I hope you like it.

Just testing out my new Wacom Intuos 4. Gotta say that I love it!

Image taken for a client early May 2013. House to be rented to students fully furnished.

Image is a blend of 3 - 8 images, initially blended using EnfuseGUI Lightroom plugin, then manually tweaked and further blended in Photoshop CS4 using masks & a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.

Fun with the Wacom Intuos 4 OLED displays ;)

Finally a success DIY Cintiq by me.

Read more about this project here.

Here's where I do most of my stuff.

That's a basic P4 Windows XP Pro computer system with a ton of storage and external back up drives. A decent graphics card gives me all the power I need to run PhotoShop CS2, Manga Studio EX and other things.

I use a WACOM tablet. It's the 6x11 Intuos 3 model. I love the pencil mode in Manga Studio and hard use paper any more to draw on.

I draw with a short finger glove on my right hand with a towel under my arm. I found the coolness of the tablet plus the coolness of the desktop was making my whole shoulder ache! I hate getting old...

Moleskine, Fineliner + Artrage + Wacom Intuos

For my first drawing of the year, I decided to draw my friend's mini clay sculpture.

Photoshop CS4, Wacom Intuos

Just screwing around on my new Wacom Intuos CHT-680 tablet. I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm having fun, so that counts. During a discussion on Twitter a pal mention ol' Clayface and I decided to make Matt Hagen the subject of tonight's "homework". I'm please with my MS Paint results.

Photoshop feels much more natural now with the Intuos4. I'm cross dominant. I happen to use a pencil with my left hand and a mouse with my right hand. Of course this is no problem when making global adjustments in Photoshop, but when I want to paint in local adjustments with layer masks etc., the mouse feels very unnatural. Until now, many of the most powerful features of Photoshop have been nothing but a frustration to try and learn. I've spent half a lifetime drawing, doodling and painting with my left hand. Since I'm a student I was also able to purchase a full version of Corel Painter 11 for $50 along with a $50 discount on the tablet. Basically Painter 11 was free. What a deal.

You can trigger this however you like, via the pen, a gesture, or an ExpressKey on the tablet. You can completely customise it, including any level of submenus.

Replacing my ancient Wacom Art Pad, which dates back to when I had desktop Apple computers many years ago, was a task well overdue.

Using a tablet does take a bit of getting used to at first but once you have it mastered, there is no going back. Editing photos becomes so much more precise. It is a bit like making the leap from taking your pictures in JPEG to taking them in RAW- a whole range of new possibilities opens up.

It is as if the Wacom Intuous 5 touch, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop were made for each other!!

PS As a bonus, the touch versions act like a giant trackpad on which you can use all the gestures that are instantly familiar to Apple MacBook Pro and Apple Touchpad users.

This is my new Cintiq 12wx Wacom Tablet. I never really got used to illustrating with a normal wacom intuos. I've owned and used them for years, but it was always hard to draw precise lines. Drawing on the Cintiq has pretty much eliminated this problem. It still takes some getting used to, but it's just so much more natural feeling than an intuos.

This appears on the left side of your main screen when you lay your finger onto any of the tablet's ExpressKeys (which are capacitive, to detect your fingers' presence). You actually physically press the keys to trigger them, so you can just lay your finger on them at any time for this quick on-screen reminder of what each one is currently configured to do - without looking away from your monitor.

Image digitally blended using at least 3 images as the light was awful at this time of day (early morning). Blending done using Enfuse LR plugin to begin with, then refined manually in Photoshop where necessary.

The red one (Evo 9) is mine. With the help of my friend with the grey Skyline, I lowered it yesterday so the stance is now a bit better and the handling has been improved through the really tight stuff! :)

Ready for winter creations

----------------

Now I'm in a time to bicycle tires!

And I made this keyring with the remains of the first work I did, the belt here.

It's a gift to a dear friend.

For those who like to work with think leather change it to bicycle tires is an excellent echo option.

I'm just an amateur with the tires, but I intuit that to make works of small and medium size, everything you want to make with leather, can be done with tires (except clothes, of course).

So why not to try it!

It is exciting to look at them so ugly and worn, thrown there, in a corner or in the bed of the street, and then thinking to yourself what they want to become in order to live more than one BIT!
