So here's today's end of work speed paint, about 30 mins this one. Stratford East London, like the addition of come colour into the sky of this one, nice dusk feel to it, anyway trying to stay sharp by doing these !

Painter sketch, trying out my new wacom Intuos tablet. I might do an oil paint version of this in the future.

I'm still working on blending in some new layers on a photograph I'm working on. I got distracted and started messing around with my workspace within Photoshop to see if I could get the tools I used to be available with a lesser amount of mouse clicks.

Right now, I'm zoomed in at 332.01%. I'm using the Brush Tool size at 60px + hardness at 0%, Mode: Normal, Opacity: 100%, Flow: 5%, Airbrush Enabled, on a clear adjustment layer. The advantage of painting on a clear adjustment layer above the layer you actually want to impact is that your edit isn't destructive to the bottom layer. It makes it so much easier to go back and forth between adjustments to tweak things when you are not destroying the pixels as you edit. The more layers the better. For each change through the edit process , I create a new layer for that work.

Another little tip I'll share is that I like is using the ALT + "Merge visible" function which allows you to merge all of the visible layers into a new top level layer. The benefit of this feature to me is that you can progressively see how your edit is flowing without having to merge all of the layers. Before I figured out the Merge Visible function in Photoshop, I would Flatten Image to see how everything was looking. The problem with incorporating Flatten Image into your work flow is it is destructive to the pixels and layers. When you edit in Photoshop you want to be as non-destructive to the pixels as possible. Embrace the Layers Jedi.

I wouldn't be able to do this fine detail work without my Wacom Bamboo tablet that I'm finally getting used to after using it for several months now. I have an older small USB tablet version that I purchased from a Photographer who upgraded to a Wacom Intuos 5 Medium tablet, I'm jealous now. Now I see why retouchers rave about tablets, they really do make working in Photoshop easier after you spend a few months getting used to working with a pen instead of a mouse, LOL.

Journey from Desperation to Hope - inspired by the era of the Great Depression in North America and John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath".. A time when many able bodied people fled the farms and rural country homes to seek employment and prosperity in the urban centers of the USA and Canada... Some found prosperity however most encountered disillusionment...

I buy all my photo gear from Adorama, they are the best in the business, they have international shipping, superb costumer service and best prices, some times i order from Amazon too, they sell everything you can imagine, they have outstanding costumer service and best prices.

I noticed my friends and i tend to think and talk about photography gear and technical issues all the time and forget about the creative part of photography.

We think that buying the best gear will guarantee getting the best photographs. The camera and lens is a tools that make it easier to get things done, but creativity is in the photographers eyes and mind. Just like the painter he use the brush, the brush is his tool, and everything else is creativity.

This photo is one of my favorite photos from my archive. I took it in 2003 in New Zealand, using my 5mp small point and shot Canon PowerShot S50. Just lowering the camera to the ground level made all the difference. Bringing out the best result i could from the original photo using Lightroom 4.

- sharpness

After years of winging it, I have decided to teach myself to retouch portraits properly. I attended a workshop, watched a bunch of tutorials and even got myself a brand spanking new Wecom Intuos Pro to boot (hey, I deserve to spoil myself every now and again!) This is the very first try and although it is faaaar from perfect, I am quite happy with how it turned out (I ran out of patience too!)

Long-awaited workspace upgrade is finished and I eager to show what I have on my table.

Sony VAIO was my workhorse for previous 4 years but I switched back to desktop workstation for more flexibility and yes, power.

4. External drives of 8TB total capacity.

5. Logitech mouse and keyboard.

6. Wacom Intuos 4. Yes, small size suitable even for 27'' monitor.

7. Wired magazine :)

My current account don't have any items on Evato yet, but with previous nickname "zigmat" I won some competitions and made good sales.

Here's a finished headshot of Rachel, whom I shot in Knoxville TN. Used one Alienbee B800 positioned from the top left of her to create a somewhat dramatic shadow effect. This was shot on location at Victor Ashe Park, around sunset time.

Used an Hasselblad 500C (early CM model) with a Sonnar 150mm F4 CF T* Lens. Format was a Leaf Valeo 22wi. Rest was enhanced in Photoshop with Intuos 4 wireless tablet.

I bought Inspire Pro yesterday for a workout. Hardly *inspired* by its performance, I've found that many of the features do not work as they should. It claims to be compatible with my new Wacom Intuos Creative II Stylus....but, it ain't. Certain brushes don't work as well. Adding to these and other performance aggravations, I paid $9.99 for the app. I may make a complaint to the App Store and get a refund.

Half way through this study, I switched to my tried and true favorite digital app ArtRage. It performs, as always, glitch free and remains my all time favorite digital app.

My First photoshoot using the Digital Back, Leaf Valeo 22wi. Very simple lighting setup again with the Mola Beauty Dish from the top left. Shot with a Fuji GX680II Camera and 250mm F5.6 Lens. Photoshopped and edited, preserving skin texture by hand, no filters or action software.

Great adventures begin with a single step.

This is the second work I have done with a Intuos Pro 5 stylus pad, so cool not working with a mouse. For those who work with a lot of layers, what a difference it makes. So far it has not saved me any time, but the experience is so much more pleasant and natural.
