Murrine is an Italian term for colored patterns or images made in a glass cane (long rods of glass) that are revealed when cut in cross-sections. Murrine can be made in infinite designs—some styles are more familiar, such as millefiore. Artists working in glass design murrine in a variety of ways from simple circular or square patterns to complex detailed designs to even portraits of people. Murrine are designed by layering different colors of molten glass around a core, then heating and stretching it into a rod. When cool, the rod is sliced into cross-sections of desired thickness with each slice possessing the same pattern in cross-section.

The murrine process first appeared in the Mideast more than 4,000 years ago and was revived by Venetian glassmakers on Murano in the early 1500s.From Wikipedia

Fonte wikipedia

A broad, but rather subtle band of Zodiacal Light rising from bottom left of centre, intersecting the Milky Way above Orion. It was the first time my two friends had seen this light, which is visible all year round from lower latitudes. It is more obvious at other times of the year. Zodiacal Light is caused by sunlight scattered off dust along the plane of the solar system.

These images all started as pictures of some actual object, scene or whatever, but have been played with in Photo Shop in various ways. In some you might recognize the original subject matter, in many they bear little resemblance to what they started as. I love hearing what different people see in these almost as much as I love making them, so fire away--tell me what you see or feel about them!

Söderåsen is a horst in the province of Scania in southern Sweden. The highest point is 212 meters. It is intersected by several fissure valleys.

The Söderåsen National Park (Swedish: Söderåsens nationalpark) is a designated area of about 16 km², established in 2001 and situated in the municipalities of Klippan and Svalöv. This part of the hill has a particularly dramatic landscape, with up to 90 meters deep ravines. From the highest point, Kopparhatten, there is a stunning view. The park consists of broadleaf forest, mostly beech. Because of the rugged landscape, many characteristics of primeval forest have been preserved, such as an abundance of dead trees. This makes the insect life rich, with many rare beetles. The flora is also extremely rich, with species such as holewort, enchanter's nightshade and great meadow-rue.
