The official high for the Twin Cities was 81º (27ºC) today, shattering the old record for this date, which was 74º (23ºC). Average highs for this date are about 46º (8ºC). It's not the warmest it has ever been in March here -- 3 different times it has been 83º -- but other than one 83º reading way back on 23 March 1910, this is the earliest in the calendar year that it has been 80ºF or more in the Twin Cities.

Tomorrow, we will be lucky to reach 60º (15.5ºC). How *that* for changeable? Yesterday was a late-Spring 72º (22ºC), today was summer, and tomorrow we're still above average but right back to the first half of Spring. What a roller coaster!

Unfortunately, we spent a good chunk of the gorgeous afternoon inside, 15:00 - 16:45, at a doctor appointment for C to have curvature of her spine checked. At her annual physical they discovered her hips were at different heights and had her x-rayed. The specialty clinic -- Gillette Children's in Saint Paul -- wanted to evaluate her, so we made this appointment over a month ago.

Who knew then that today would be so warm and sunny?!?

Anyway, she has a 13º lateral curvature to the right, and her L leg was found to be slightly shorter than her R. That degree of curvature is uncommon enough for a pre-adolescent under the age of 10, that they are going to schedule an MRI of her back to rule out anything serious. Then they'll watch her with biannual x-rays, because they don't want to see the curve worsen as she heads into her adolescent growth spurt.

Wow -- the HMO is sparing no expense with that MRI ! We're not overly worried about anything serious, nor is the doc -- 80% of kids under 10 have none of the serious conditions they are looking for with the MRI.
