I chose this hexagonal tile backsplash for the amazing colors and texture- it was one of the very last decisions I made in the house, and one of my faves!

During a trip to Colorado (which was actually unrelated to nature photography) I made sure to plan for some extra time so I could make it to the Rocky Mountains and spend a few days camping there!

I was thrilled to be able to go to Alaska for some extended backpacking! A good buddy of mine and myself spent 17 days backing and traveling throughout different parks in Alaska. From ridge trails and Denali National Park (formerly McKinley National Park) to Kennicot and Wrangel-St. Elias, we covered a lot of ground in a short time!
I took this ultra-wide photo of Mount Denali at the top of the first steep climb on the Kesugi Ridge Trail! At this point in the day some clouds moved in that provided a really cool and dramatic setting! I love the variations of clouds in the sky especially! This trail is located in Denali State Park which is just an hour or two south of Denali National Park! This trail offered some fantastic views of Mt. Denali and the surrounding mountains, forests and meadows! We spent 2 nights on this trail and it was a lot of fun! This is a decorator showhouse that I designed over 10 months' time in 2006. The name means "spirited house"... and if you look at the other photos in the set, you'll know why!
This is an "after" shot of a kitchen makeover... White laminate cabinets were painted black, stainless appliances and granite countertops were added, and cork flooring was laid over the vinyl. She's a beauty now!
In this Hamptons living room designed by Steven Gambrel, the gray sofa is upholstered in a linen by Scalamandré, and the emerald-green love seat and ottoman are covered in a linen upholstery by Pierre Frey. The mixed-media work is by Joonsung Bae; chandeliers from Holly Hunt are suspended from the black-painted ceiling.

In the TV room of this 2,400-square-foot Boston condo, Roop, above, covered the raised floor in leather tiles from Edelman, and upholstered the sofa's frame, back cushions, seat cushions, and throw pillows in different velvet and linen fabrics.
