Interestingness makes no damn sense! It's almost as if these are in reverse order.

I'm going to go build.

This is a very interesting helmet that I really like. You will notice that the visor and bevor have an exaggerated downwards point, similar to the shape of an old fashioned houndskull bascinet visor. Most of the time, on a close helmet or an armet, the bevor will be pitched upwards so the top of it is more or less parallel to the vision slits. This one extends downwards. It is a unique look. I believe this is a Landshut style (southeastern Bavaria) since I've noticed many helmets from Landshut armours appear to feature this sort of beak-like shape. The helmet in the previous photo is similarly styled.

Looking from the Corridor Junction toward the Mess Room, a view not seen in the movie. i have blanked off the corridor to the bridge (left) and wall panel (right) as they have not been constructed yet!

I came across this in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A grim reaper statuette in the Smith family lot. Lots of love there.

After reading this whole thread I realized that the algorithm for selecting the 500 photos in explore has changed. Now, puting your photos in a bunch of groups penalizes your photo. I think this is braindead. I myself made a test with this photo, that when removing it from some pools, it reached the Explore page.

As I explained in the thread, I don't think this is a good change. Also, in some way they're limiting how we treat our photos, as adding to many groups goes against the interestingness of the photo. What will happen to the groups that need that many people put their photos, comment them, rate them, etc.??? Moreover, I can see people adding their photos to a bunch of groups, then removing them when the photos achieve a lot of views and faves. This is frankly a crappy approach.

What I don't really understand is *why* changing the algorithm. As it worked was perfect!

Finally, why do they apply those changes without a Flickr-wide announcement??

Enough for interestingness,

diego.

Using a fast shutter speed and high f-stop and a flash, I can make it look like it is night time. But this was done at 1 in the afternoon.

I didn't know Tim was taking this shot or I would have smiled!

It's my first, therefore I can freak out.

OHHHMYYGOSHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are the chances that a pothole on the ground will take the shape of Africa..well I've just narrowed them!

Sky above the apartment complex where my wife and i reside. It was a beautiful summer Sunday.

Found in familyshot album. Is from 1941, but i love the mood.

I saw this interesting sign near our house in the Model Colony district in the western Indian city of Pune (Poona). Are the 'no parking' and 'pest control' related in any way? (just a gag, of course they are not! But people who park in front of your gate can be a pest at times, what?) (Poona/ Pune, June 2010)

Mildly Interesting: the way my roll of insulation tape has extruded. It has slowly got worse, now the cardboard tube is entirely above the original roll. My theory had been that it was cut from a long cylinder and happened to be at the end, so only one side was tensioned by the blade. But it has become so extreme, I'm not sure that would explain it. Any ideas?

Reach for the stars insulation tape!

Number 2 at the moment. Thanks for another Explore Page.

I noticed this interesting glass art in the rental car center at Phoenix airport.

I somehow doubt the ladies' room has such interesting decorations.

Kitty Name:

Tyker Funf

Location:

Mons, Belgium

What's the story?

Tyker is a son of a bitch. I'm serious and I'm not kidding. He gets in

the car and says "Let's go to Brussels." I tell him, "I don't know

Brussels." He says, "How can you be in Belgium and not get to Belgium?"

Then he insisted. So, I drove there and got there. I told him quite

clearly that I'd take no more than three turns from the expressway. He

moaned. I drove, turned, turned, turned again. I realized I was

nowhere, and then saw a clear sign back to Mons. We turned and headed

right back.

Once we got to Mons, he was a lot better. He wanted me to drive to a

tall steeple. Note that the streets are poorly signed and I just had to

look at things above the houses and drive toward them. We got to the

steeple where there was a very large cathedral. He says, "go in, go

in." I said, "It's a Cathedral, not a Cat-Thedral, Asswhipe!"

That wasn't funny to him.

I knew he was hurt so I took him in. The place was just like the 800

year old cathedrals you've seen in books, only this one wasn't as well

maintained, which is kind of cool; lots of stuff was original, but worn.

I liked that. Kitty purred. I think he liked it too. He posed for

lots of reverent kitty photos. Ever see a kitty pray? Me neither, till

today.

Then, we left the church and turned left, walking. Suddenly the narrow

road opened up to this enormous bricked plaza with beautiful and stately

old buildings all around. Tons of seating space for dining, drinking

and smoking. We wandered, because I didn't want him to use his French.

Tyker can't take advice, and refuses to use proper pronunciation, making

us stand out every where we go. We took lots of pictures there, one

with a very special fountain. He likes fountains. He wanted to see the

famous pissing boy statue in Brussels, so this one was just going to

have to do.

Then we went to eat at a place a student recommended - an Algierian

place and got Lamb tajine. The meat was amazing. Tyker purred and said

it reminded him of some higher-end canned cat food he'd had in the past.

I asked him to stop talking and drank my beer. He lapped the water off

of the side of my glass. I was happy so I scratched his chin.
