Coproduction : Les Saisons Saint-Eustache, l'Ircam, Le Balcon.

ELEV(I)ATE - an interactive installation by choreographer/performer Athena Mazarakis and digital artist, Tegan Bristow in the foyer of the Market Theatre, New Town, Johannesburg. Part of the Johannesburg Dance Umbrella programme, March 2010. As a performer working within an interactive installation designed by Bristow, Mazarakis invited passers-by to participate in a dance lift, "the currency of exchange" within each meeting. Mazarakis' skill as a comic performer was evident in her spontaneous interactions between a large variety of participants; while different elements of interactive media refracted and reflected the encounter through a plethora of images ranging from animated information graphics to disco lights & live video. But the results of the lifts were often deeply felt, even spiritual in effect, with Mazarkis's partners often overwhelmed by emotion released through the uplifting experience.

I used HA CL480 Wishing You Were Here and HA CL388 Cuckoo to make this card. I attached a paper coil that opens up as the card opens. I attached all kinds of sweet love words. I was thinking of my husband when I made this card. He will be gone all summer and I'm making cards to send to him while he's away. (Front of card picture should come after- or before this picture.)
