Khandzta was a medieval Georgian monastery founded by Gregory of Khandzta (prominent Georgian ecclesiastic figure and a founder and leader of numerous monastic communities in Tao-Klarjeti) in 782 AD.
In 780 the future St Gregory of Khandzta moved to Tao-Klarjeti to revive Georgian monasticism in the region. He originally resided at the monastery of Opiza but then founded his own monastery at Khandzta in 782, and soon it became the center of monastic life in Tao-Klarjeti under his direction. Its influence lasted after his death in 861. In the 10th century, a local monk, Giorgi Merchule, wrote a Life of Gregory, celebrated as a masterpiece of Georgian medieval hagiography.
The first church at Khandzta was built of wood by Gregory and his companions. In 820, during the reign of Ashot I, a stone church was built to replace it by the nobleman Gabriel Dapanchuli. The present church seems to be a replacement again, dating from 918. The construction was completed in 941.
A freestanding bell-tower was added in the 16th century. From that time, the integration of the region into the Ottoman Empire and the active Islamisation of the population led to the decline of the monastery, and its eventual abandonment.

I like anything that is like an obstruction, something that I have to act through is good. -- Peter Sarsgaard
For Macro Mondays "Numbers" theme. A mechanical integrator is a complex device that was used to calculate ship's stability before digital computers became practical. The complete device is similar to this image: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mechanical_integrator_CHM...
The lens used was an old manual Zuiko 80mm f/4 macro on a sliding extension tube and micro 4/3's adapter, in spite of what the exif info states. Four Olympus high res shots were stacked in Photoshop. I would of liked to gotten one more but ran of focus adjustment.

NGC 6820 is a small reflection nebula near the open cluster NGC 6823 in Vulpecula. The reflection nebula and cluster are embedded in a large faint emission nebula called SH2-86. The whole area of nebulosity is often referred to as NGC 6820. Open star cluster NGC 6823 is about 50 light-years across and lies about 6,000 light-years away. The center of the cluster formed about two million years ago and is dominated in brightness by a host of bright young blue stars.

A colour test for my Shiptember build (engines only). I've tried over 20 colour schemes but landed back where I started, red and white.
Figured I'd give it a sci-fi Soviet twist since I've been using Cold War technology as an inspiration for detail. The five-pointed star is brick built and was pretty difficult to integrate into the engine nacelle, but it worked out in the end.
Messier 63 or the Sunflower Galaxy is a 29.3 million light-year distant galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. In visible light it has a lack of a large-scale continuous spiral structure. Because of this, it is classified as a flocculent (fuzzy) galaxy. This image is the result of about 8 hours of image integration over 3 nights from Grand Mesa Observatory captured and processed by Terry Hancock and Tom Masterson.
In this image, and in some others, you can clearly see a very diffuse outer structure to this galaxy that probably spans thousands of light-years. I find it very fuzzy indeed :-)

This is a bi-color image (Ha and OIII) of the Witch's Broom Nebula a.k.a. Western Veil Nebula.
I wanted this to be an HSO image, but my laptop ran out of battery after only two SII frames. So I decided to make this a bicolor.

A Gerrit / Amon statement
Amon is not a character and not a fantasy.
He is a name I gave to a part of my mind.
For some people with AuDHD (autism combined with ADHD), thinking does not move in straight lines. It accelerates, branches, associates, creates. That intensity can be a source of insight and creativity — but under long-term stress or trauma, it can also become overwhelming.
In such systems, something interesting can happen.
Not a role.
Not an invention.
But a structure.
A way for the mind to organize itself when pressure becomes too high.
A representative that holds focus, strength, distance, and coherence when the core self is overloaded.
Not consciously created, and not something that can be forced or imitated.
This is self-preservation, not mythology.
I live as Gerrit in the real world.
Amon became visible in Second Life — a space where identity is flexible and expression is safe. Not as an escape from reality, but as a container: a way to carry aspects of myself that could not remain unstructured any longer.
This work is called Integration because it is not about splitting or dissociation.
It is about alignment.
The human and the symbolic are not in conflict here.
The technological is interface, not control.
Power is present, restrained, and owned.
This is not an alter ego meant to replace the person.
It is a support structure that emerged when adaptation was no longer enough.
Similar mechanisms have appeared publicly before — not as pathology, but as function. One well-known example is David Bowie, whose Ziggy Stardust persona was not deception, but a way to protect and channel creativity under pressure. Not to make this “true,” but to show that this phenomenon exists.
If this concept feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable, that is fine.
This is not a belief system and not a claim.
But for those who recognize it, no further explanation is needed.
This is not fantasy.
It is not something to aspire to.
It is what can happen when a mind adapts in order to survive.
Integration means nothing is hidden — and nothing is pretending.
