..for many days, while Dad stands guard, the Mother duck will hunt for the perfect spot in the marsh for her nest.

This mama turtle was trying to wrestle this one stray egg into a hole where she had already buried several of her other eggs. She then covers them. When the eggs hatch, the baby turtles dig their way to the ground surface.

The domestic cat, hunting in the woods...as seen behind my business park yesterday...

Astrid missed... but quickly recovered, twisting around just in time to miss his own return swipe... but she had seen it. She'd seen that moment of panic on his face as she'd dug her claws into the soil. "You've lost your nerve, *boy*," she hissed at him and she tried to slash her claws at his back before rolling under him to come back up again in front and try to regain her footing in front of him again unless he stopped her footing or broke her path.

A l'ombre de la basilique, et sous le regard du foutographe, le moindre passant un peu rougeoyant ne peut que laisser une forte... Impression ! :-)

My dog, Zuki, at night at the end of a parking lot under the light of a full moon and a halogen light. The postprocessing involved warping in Photoshop and layering effects. The title comes from the full moon behind her and her shadow looking like a howling wolf.

I'm a big fan of the film noir era, the classic Hollywood films of the 1940s and '50s characterized by dark and menacing energy, both in plot and style. The sets and cinematography contributed to the look and feel of these old movies. There is often an unsettling feeling even before a word of dialog is spoken. It's all about creating an atmosphere. Nothing thrills me more photographically than to capture this look in my own work. Either by outright fabrication or through real life encounters (usually a blend of the two). Sometimes it requires a bit of imagination to extract noir from everyday life. Other times the Universe leads me directly to it. Such was the case here, a veritable deadwood manor, steeped in dreariness and looking like the ultimate backlot movie set. As is often the case, a once proud house has simply fallen into disrepair after human habitation ended. The gritty look is enhanced as Mother Nature attempts to reclaim the place. Vegetation and undergrowth advance on all sides. The carpet of fallen leaves and tangled tree branches complete the look. I waited for the dreariest day imaginable, and even then held off until near sunset. Instinctively I knew that even a single ray of sunlight or bright reflection would kill the amazingly dark and sinister atmosphere. The sense is one of utter hopelessness and the darkness is palpable, almost crushing.

Diana, the loveliest of peahens and one of her baby chicks. Unfortunately I didn't get to see how she and her chicks got up to this tall tree branch. Many times before I have seen her do it however it was before she had peachicks, even then it was always a struggle, so it is very intriguing how she managed to get all three chicks up there with her!

Love her so much and her chicks are the cutest, unfortunately I moved houses and didn't get to see them grow, now - after only 4 months! - the chicks are the same size as their mum.

Capturing this mandrill in a moment of intense vocalization, I was struck by the raw power and primal energy radiating from this magnificent primate. The dramatic black and white treatment emphasizes the creature's fierce expression and the sculptural quality of its form emerging from the darkness.

I chose to work with dramatic low-key lighting to create this theatrical effect, where the mandrill becomes almost mythical against the deep black background. The monochrome processing strips away any distractions, focusing entirely on the animal's powerful presence and emotional intensity.

What fascinated me was witnessing this display of natural behavior - whether territorial calling, social communication, or simply expressing dominance. There's something both intimidating and mesmerizing about observing such raw, unfiltered animal instinct up close.

My intention was to create more than just a wildlife photograph, but rather a portrait that captures the essence of wildness itself. The dramatic lighting and composition transform this moment into something almost cinematic, revealing the dignity and power inherent in our closest evolutionary relatives.

Here is the book I made for my photography project. I don’t like it, because I cocked it up. The cover fabric wouldn’t stick, so the corners are frayed and have holes in, and then the inside of the book went bubbly because I glued it wrong. But oh well, it could be worse.

But aside from the hideous details, I think it actually looks okay.

Please excuse the rubbish photo, the lighting in my room is appalling. I will take better photos of it (and of more pages) when there is daylight.
