She is feeding her young. Parents are able to locate their own chicks in the creche at feeding time. Adults feed their chicks a secretion of the upper digestive tract referred to as "milk". "Milk" secretion is caused by the hormone prolactin, which both the male and female flamingo produce.

NEw! Challenge 233.0 ~ Impressionist Visions ~ The Award Tree ~
There were three eagles menacing this flock of America coots off shore of Penticton Beach. My first instinct for those coots is to get out of Dodge. There are plenty of other water sources in the area, why pick the one with a family of eagles. The eagles were at it every evening, like clockwork just after sunset - Doge City. This particular evening they came up empty despite many dives with talons down in amongst the flock. The coots were terrified the eagles coming at them from different directions.
" I was working hard the other day..
actually, it was my weekly outdoor field day..
I was ready with my claws all sharp..
what happened next I still can't grasp..
it was like struck by sudden fever..
I was face to face with this big beaver..
my instinct said "stay and fight"..
the brain said " run or jump very high"..
my pride was hurt just a little bit..
not that I will ever admit..
think I will stay inside for a while..
just trying to calm things slightly down..
with my new boring indoor lifestyle.."

Actually a juvenile bald eagle. I have my wife to thank for this one. We were heading out along the KVR trail and my natural instinct tells me to walk forward, Joanne spots this large bird behind us. Who looks backwards on these walks of ours. A little out of range for my tiny 100-400mm just before he disappeared over the trees.
It's amazing these hummers who can't stay still for over 30 seconds will sit on the nests 30 to 60 minutes at a time --
and posting as my favorite image of the 2019 year --- an update if you missed the postings -- both little ones didn't make it out the first week, although the nest is still there and hopefully ready to be updated this spring.......

Not normally how I spend my evenings but this was great fun and a challenge. We were in pitch black other than a small torch light being used to highlight the flower that had been sprayed to attract the bats. It was a job to sense the presence of the bat because they were in and out so fast if you hit your shutter when you caught a glimpse you would be too late. Hearing and instinct were much more important than your eyes. I didn't actually know what I had captured until I could lighten the images in Lightroom.
Quite a young cub, probably not much more than 3 months old, but already has signs of being a hunter!
It’s difficult to reach the top
Easy to fall back down
The efforts of a single person
In the end
Even when all the stars line up
Are never enough
Reach out, hold my hand.
Of all the images I’ve taken in the last twelve months, this one, for me, represents the year 2020.
Only half awake, I stand here with my hands in my pockets gazing into the distance, watching the shape of the dunes and the sheer size of it is overwhelming even frightening at 4 am. The only existing light is a star filled sky above me. I could’ve stayed here, watched the day arrive softly with each ray of light warming my skin; I could’ve written a love letter and been perfectly content. But on this day, in October, my goal is to climb up the highest dune and photograph at sunrise. Surrounded by silence, my inner voice tells me: You’ve been here before, you know this place, trust your instincts, trust your heart. Encouraged I begin my journey. But be aware, gravity tests your balance with every step sinking into sand as the mind begins to wander: I’ve left my roots far from here, does it mean I’ve grown? Or will I need to find my way back, because the original source is where life began holding water? Certainly, the rhythm of life has changed as well as the rhythm of each step I take. Intently, I listen to the melody familiar to me -my beating heart, moving forward, here and in life -my life. Just then I see a shooting star; flickering lights in my eyes I whisper: “Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight.” I make a wish and I make it to the top. The rising sun greets with all her glory surrounding me with golden hues as far as I can see. For thousands of years these dunes have been here, yet they stay young: always moving, always changing, separating and reconnecting; it's a life of art in motion. The passage of time right in front of my eyes, like an hourglass -two glass bulbs connected- shifting sands, and I can’t help to think that in this lifetime we are all in search for some form of connection -two hearts connected- to give and to take.
Empty, so empty
When the sun goes down
The human touch far
Where do we belong
What do we hold on
Only time will tell
Twenty twenty.

This year, sharing art with people around the world, for me, has been rewarding. I believe that we speak a common language created within all of us -making something meaningful with our cameras. Along the way, we see a glimpse of each other's world. Understanding how much we have in common unites us as people no matter where we come from; the earth is home to all of us. Thank you for being here, I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season filled with joy, health and happiness. Above all, I wish you love.

TITLE: THE BOOGEYMAN
Description:
Sitting at the library late at night. Everybody left. Not a soul in sight. Dead silence. Suddenly all the lights behind me went dark. Natural instinct takes over. Fear redeems itself in the deepest part of my soul. I've been hearing stories about a monster under my bed for so long. He's a shadow in the dark. Shapeless. Can it be the 'boogeyman'?

"Out & About" today enjoying some beautiful spring weather finally, and disturbed this family basking in the sunlight!
One or two stern honks sent the goslings into the safety of the water, followed by glares from the parents! The adult on the right honked something I'm sure wasn't very nice! :(

This afternoon we combed Daisy, our Border Terrier. There are blue tits building a nest in our bird box at the moment and so we put her hair in a bush nearby. I was thrilled to get some shots of the blue tits taking some of the hair to use in the nest. Those baby birds are going to be very cosy!

Well, some people may question me how i take those interesting images?.....
I often reply them with a laugh, just my pure Luck!
No, Not really so effectively, it fundamentally fall into my basic photography instinct Plus the game of patient waiting.
Waiting for the right moment will stand you higher chance succeding if you are also patient enough to expect what u didn't expect to turn out as primarily we can never able to control their subtle mind, but the rewards of patient to wait for the right moment to strike would be fruitful after plugging out some great courages tries..
Candid street photography is definitely exciting and super challenging, people been suspicously shot would be intimidated by your move after they discover your intention.
However, don't be intimidated and quit if you kept really a distance away with them as they might express the moment of time correctly suitable for the next golden call shot of the day.
My little secret to share, when i spotted what interest me no matter the distance is too far away, i will first subtly hit few triggle trial shots quietly to test unawareness is possible, then i will advance quickly closer to my target and compose shot that well fits with another few shots all in silent mode and auto ISO. if the angle wasn't right i would quickly recompose decisively as too many rowdy movement may alarm your target quickly and thing you don't want start fall apart wrongly. The vital elements is see the correct light and shadow fall and follow the direction of lights to position one-selves to capture them with as many possible good shots as require
