Fernando Botero is a Latin American painter, sculptor, and draftsman who depicts the comedy of human life—moving or ironic, baroque in expression, sometimes with a mocking observation, and sometimes with a deep, elementary emotion. He has created a world of his own with a particular blend of violence and beauty. This exhibition represents the first retrospective of the artist’s work in North America since 1974. Included will be 100 paintings, sculptures, and drawings culled from the artist’s private collection. Many works have never been exhibited in public. The exhibition is organized and circulated by Art Services International, Alexandria, Virginia. Dr. John Sillevis from the Gemeentemuseum, The Hague, curated the exhibition.

installation detail: looking into the mini gallery within a gallery space. the photos are pinned to the wall with Tpins. they are digital prints (photographed with a Holga in a studio onto film, then scanned, then printed) sewn onto hand dyed arches cover. these hand sculpted ceramic hearts are each hand sculpted from a brooklyn red clay body, fired at ^9, and suspended from aluminum chain from the ceiling of the gallery in the center of an 8x8 foot room made from temporary walls. the interior is painted blood red.
from my BFA thesis show, Transgression, which was installed in the Main Gallery (3rd floor) of Northern Kentucky University's Fine Arts Building in April 2005.
The prolific use of barrage balloons to protect the anchorage and shore facilities around Scapa Flow necessitated the installation of a hydrogen gas plant to ensure sufficient and ready supply of the lighter-than-air gas. Rinnigill was chosen, and a gas plant along with deep water jetty were constructed. The site overlooked the dockyard at Lyness where many of the engineering tasks associated with the defence of Scapa Flow took place.
The gas was produced by adding water to solid sodium hydroxide and ferrosilicon (an alloy of silicon and iron) in a pressure vessel. The exothermic reaction needed to be cooled using water, and produced waste products such as iron slag. This method was chosen over the more traditional electrolysis due to the large amount of electricity that would have been required. it did, however, mean that the production of hydrogen was in batches as opposed to the continuous process of electrolysis.
Most of the brick built buildings of the gas plant remain, as do footprints for tanks that would likely have contained the hydrogen and water for cooling the pressure vessels. It's also possible that some of the steel panels that made up the tanks of this process are still on the site, seemingly awaiting disposal.

After the wrapping was done, I covered the wires with corrugated plastic wire conduit for the final professional look.

After a fire in a bar, gostly presences seize the abandoned and destroyed place, observing the curious intruders’ steps. The intent was to creat a similar trailer/teaser structure. It was filmed during an Arte Às Tantas Collective photographic ride. The installation is the video’s supplement, and works as its physical support too. The ex-bar TimeOut had an unusual decoration, where bikes and cars were one of the main attractions, being the element “tire” common to both. Thus, the tires installation Spiritus represents a memory of the decoration of TimeOut, the motards and lovers of classic cars and motorcycles that were frequent customers of the bar.
