“Inside yourself or outside, you never have to change what you see, only the way you see it.”
Thaddeus Golas
I like black humor. Seriously, I love it. I don't think that makes me a bad person. I do not enjoy human tragedies, and I'm a terrible sentinent person.
But I don't want to cry and say "oh, the world is terrible, there's people starving in Africa, bombs, and stupid churches all arround the world, what will become of me?"
No. I laugh about it all. I even laugh about me when I'm stupid (pretty much all the time).
There's people that can't handle my sense of humour... normally they hate me until they know me for real.
On this photo, I tried to represent people like me, who apparently has an "armor", and they look ridiculously strong, but on the inside, they're sentinent, and they worth.
This is one of my most personal images.
Hope you like it!

Waiting for an afternoon's concert in Windhover Hall inside the Calatrava-designed wing of the Milwaukee Art Musem. Note that the "wings" are closed.
Through those windows straight ahead is Lake Michigan. On a sunny day it's a spectacular view. Even on a cloudy day, like that was, it is impressive.

- and outside in. With these lattice walls you are outside in the garden even when you are inside the house... A garden inside a building - inside a park - inside an island - inside a city, country and continent. A piece of Asia hidden away in the heart of Manhattan, NYC.

It's raining outside, so just let me listen to my fave and fantastic music inside!!!
我突然有點厭倦了那裡的過往總總與無知傾斜的一切,所以就盡情地跟著音樂 搖擺吧!
Maybe some of you can't see some things clear but I can.
I went to the adidas originals PR event last night, I really had fun with the party, wine, and house music even if it was raining and I was wearing high heels.
Fashion show & DJ always make me feel excited and surprised.
It's time to buy some new CDs 'coz I get great ideas!!! yay :P

twentyninth day. i'm a guy. so that means i don't own many shoes.
in fact it's amazing how few shoes i owned over my life. as a teenager i used to wear them until they virtually fall of my feet. they were so beat-up i had to keep them together with duct-tape and glue.
and i was proud of them. like the scars on my arms and legs i wore them like a badge of honour.
the decay of my shoes were resembling the miles i've walked and the things i've done.
slipping inside a good worn shoe still feels pretty awesome. it feels like coming home after a long journey.
danbo doesn't seem to mind either. if he sees a pair he likes he just occupys them and takes a nap.

Salzburg Cathedral is the 7th century Baroque cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg, dedicated to Saint Rupert and Saint Vergilius.
Founded by Saint Rupert in 774 on the remnants of a Roman town, the cathedral was rebuilt in 1181 after a fire. In the 17th century, the cathedral was completely rebuilt in the Baroque style under Prince-Bishop Wolf Dietrich Raitenau to its present appearance.
The whole photo looks like it was taken through a yellow filter, but at least it isn't completely blurry. You should see the other 95% of photos from that weekend! :-)

The flavors were chocolate hazelnut truffle cupcakes with nutella frosting and lemon cupcakes filled with raspberries and lemon frosting.
The rose inside the flower was inspired by Zalita who makes the most gorgeous cupcakes!
Well this is the first attempt with my newest prop . This is me in my genuine vintage straight jacket . Really is a very strange feeling to have this thing on and really makes you think how bad things were for patients back then . Would be terrible to be locked away for weeks inside a padded cell in this jacket .

Abandoned Chapel inside a school in Germany
In 1939 a new law stated that every disabled new born should be reported to the government. The disabled, mostly children were taken in institutes. The government, the national socialists were heading to the WWII to create the third Reich. The race purification program killed more than 200.000 people and also in St. Jozefsheim people were killed. The ‘Schutzengelhaus’ from the Franciscans was rebuilt to this kind of “death” institute. The institute gave place to 200 beds. More than 30 children were killed during these years in this institute. In July 1943 the institute left the St Jozefsheim site and the remaining 183 children were transported to other institutes.
In 1952 the buildings were expropriate from the Nazis and was sold back to the Franciscan order. But only several years later, in 1955 it was sold again, now to the English who used the buildings for almost 40 years.
The English connected two older buildings with some new ones and a military hospital was born. The monastery became a modern hospital with two operation rooms, out patient departments and even a psychiatric department.

"We hold the secret to a dream
we keep it wrapped in chains
locked inside a mystery
we climb a stairway to the stars
through doorways of the heart
step inside, the magic starts
gaze into my crystal ball
see what lies behind the wall
can't you feel the wonder of it all?
in my crystal ball
you veil your eyes in fantasy
let's pull the curtain back
distant worlds, so much to see
gaze into my crystal ball
see what lies behind the wall
can't you feel the wonder of it all?
in my crystal ball ..."

Tattoo
Miriam M. Wynn
Like a tattoo, you are painted, printed,
On my body, all over my soul;
Like a dream, your memory remains
Inside of me, inside my skin.
My delicate soul is soaked with you:
The memory of you... is like my tattoo.
Body art is the recognition of the fact
That I belong to you,
That I am owned by you,
Forever stamped by you . . .
Like a song echoing through the valleys of my aching heart,
You are presented in me,
An angelic chorus in me,
A precious operetta in me;
Your magnum opus is what I am, you see,
A magic melody,
A helpless harmony,
An innocent tragedy--
But I am whole.
Your stamp, forever marked on my helpless skin;
My tattoo,
I am forever burning within, the
Hot scent of you, throughout my being.
My tattoo,
I love the persuasive spell of you,
The haunting passion of you,
The ferocious majesty of you . . .
My romantic melody,
I adore the thrill of you,
The stunning feel of you,
The irresistible touch of you--
And Oh! My darling, sweet tattoo,
Remember that I am yours,
For the gentle passion of the hours,
The exquisite dreams of lovers . . .
My darling angel of light,
You give me peace through hard times,
You fill me with the breath of Spring
All fresh and sweet with tender feeling.
My lovely, breathless tattoo,
I forever belong to you;
I willingly long for you,
You are my forbidden taboo . . .
For upon my hungry skin
Are you
Eternally tattooed.
For Window Wednesday, some glass brick window blocks in the winter sunshine.
Same glass brick pattern in each of the four glass blocks, but showing us a different version of the world outside.
I thought the 1/2 light and 1/2 shadows of the background had created a kind of interesting dithering pattern in the dimples shapes of the glass.

Truly, this is the inside of a 29 metres high, 39 metres long, 12 metres wide, 250 ton three headed elephant!
Don't believe me? Look at the first comment. This is definitely one that needs to be seen large!
Hope you had a great weekend.
My good friend, Jason Mrachina, invited me to join him on a tour of the Iowa State Capitol. The capitol gives free public tours, but this was a private tour with State Senator Daryl Beall. Senator Beall turned out to be a photographer himself and he lead us on one of the most interesting tours I've ever been a part of. This image is from the main floor of the capitol building looking up into the main dome. The tour lead us to the top of the dome. We went above the marble columns at the top, above the flag and eagle suspended by guitar strings, above the clouds and eventually outside to the top of the cupola. Thank you Senator Beall for an unforgettable experience. Check out Jason's amazing images from the capitol, here.
Iowa Capitol Building
If you get a chance to visit Des Moines, you want to visit the Iowa Capitol Building. The architecture inside and outside the building rivals anything that you can find in the midwest. There are many locations within the building where you could spend hours of your time trying to find the perfect composition. The dome is an obvious focal point, but there are several sets of winding staircases, great halls with ornate columns, and small details that will keep you searching all day. I highly recommend a stop at the Iowa capitol for any photographer.
"The Rothko murals at Tate Modern are lovely in their oppression, erotic in their cruelty. These are paintings that seem to exist on the skin inside an eyelid. They are what you imagine might be the last lights, the final flickers of colour that register in a mind closing down. Or at the end of the world."
(quote of Jonathan Jones' essay "Feeding Fury", published in The Guardian, Saturday 7 December 2002)

Things I ♥ Month Continues! Only one more day after today! So it seemed only fitting that I share a lifeblood's passion that has been inside me since I can remember.
Design: My Mom always says, "Work is only work if you'd rather be doing something else"...and starting at age 4 when I was coloring within the lines, to a career spent in graphics, illustration, painting, typography, interactive design and photography...I have been truly blessed to get up every day and do something I love for work.
Pictured: Over the years I've amassed 200+ books on design, type, creativity, identity & photography...this is one of the many 3-foot tall stacks beside my home office desk. :)
