INGREDIENTI: x 6 persone

2 melanzane lunghe

250 gr di salsiccia di maiale

200 gr di formaggio bitto

15 rettangoli di sfoglia fresca agli spinaci

1/2 cipolla bianca

So I'm in the process of losing weight..It's ony been 18 days and Ive already lost 10 pounds. I feel GREAT! :D

I asked to visit the Maternity hospital in Pyongyang, a big place in the country where most of the women come to deliver.

In fact, we just had the right to see some premature babies in a modern area of the hospital.

This is one of the main problem you meet in NK: you can just see what they allow you to see...

North Korea

In the Pyongyang maternity, the staff showed us a raw of boxes where, thay said, the fathers and family comes to talk to the mother after delivery. It is made to prevent from bacterias. We asked if everybody has to go thru this process, they said yes, but it seems strange.

The official speech:

The Pyongyang Maternity Hospital has been birthplace of at least 710 000 children since its foundation in 1980. More than 390 triplets and quadruplets were born and over 600 triplets have grown up there for the past 30 years since the birth of the first triplet in September 1980. Whenever triplets were born, Kim Jonng Il offered different kinds of gifts including not only clothes, blankets and nutritious food, but also clothes for their wedding dresses.

i was tagged by shilpa and pervez recently and by jeet long time ago. sorry jeet to take so long. didn't forget about it at all.

# i am a proud bengali from calcutta, india. i lived most of my life there. last 5 years i have been away from my country, first three yrs i was in the USA (i studied there) and for the last 2 yrs i have been in the UK. so if you wanted to know the similarities (there arent many) and differences (a lot of them) between these two countries, i am your man.

# if you are trying to guess my age then keep trying.. ok let me give you a hint. I passed secondary board exam in 1992... oh u have to do a little math 'coz these things dont come cheap.

# i am in biomedical research and work for an academic institution.

# i met my man when i was 18 and still in love with him as much... may be only more.

# i love travelling and camping. it helps that my husband and i share this same desire to travel and its little easier that way.

# i like movies. in hindi movies i like the 'parallel' trendy ones more than the musical lovey dovey ones. just an example, i liked 'bheja fry' way more than 'Yuvvraaj'. in hollywood, i like Noir movies a lot... the 'LA confidential' types. like the comedy ones too 'the apartment' being my most fav, made in 1960. now you see i have thing for oldies.

# like ghazals and film music a lot. i think they are fast food for your soul in these kind of busy life.

# i also like to read. i love hanging around libraries and book stores. barnes and nobles was my fav hang out place in the us and here it is waterstones, a big book store with coffee shop inside. i like classic fictions. other than those i like travel books by paul theroux and bill bryson.

# i think i am a good person to talk to (even better if it is over a couple of drinks of wine/beer). i am open for any discussion and try not be opinionated and judgemental. KNOWLEDGE is an absolute turn-on for me.

# finally, i never get lonely. even if i am alone, there are so many things to pursue in life and so less time. so when i have a little time for myself i pursue my hobby of photography. i love flickr which gave me a new meaning in my life, friends and their lovey work to spend hours with.

"The Brain" is one of the animated mechanical fortune tellers at Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum. Marvin has been collecting video games, games of skill, and items such as these ( some date back to 1900, and others were custom built specifically for Marvin ) since 1960. Marvin's opened in 1990, and is listed as one of the 100 most unique museums in the world. Admission is free. My wife and I had a lot of fun here. She is doing much better!! She is eating, playing and bathing herself now. I am able to catch her easier and bring her inside too. She actually sat in my lap last night and just purred like she has been a lap cat all this time.

The first courtyard was designed in 1453 by Michelozzo. In the lunettes, high around the courtyard, are crests of the Church and City Guilds. In the center, the porphyry fountain is by Battista del Tadda. The Putto with Dolphin on top of the basin is a copy of the original by Andrea del Verrocchio (1476), now on display on the second floor of the palace. This small statue was originally placed in the garden of the villa of the Medici in Careggi. The water, flowing through the nose of the dolphin, is brought here by pipes from the Boboli Gardens.

In the niche, in front of the fountain, stands Samson and Philistine by Pierino da Vinci.

First courtyardThe frescoes on the walls, representing scenes of the Austrian Habsburg estates, were painted in 1565 by Giorgio Vasari for the wedding celebration of Francesco I de' Medici, the eldest son of Cosimo I de' Medici, and Johanna of Austria, sister of the Emperor Maximilian. The harmoniously proportioned columns, at one time smooth, and untouched, were at the same time richly decorated with gilt stuccoes. The barrel vaults are furnished with grotesque decorations.

Last night my teacher taught me the lesson of poverty,

having nothing and wanting nothing.

I am a naked man standing inside a mine of rubies,

clothed in red silk.

I absorb the shining and now I see the ocean,

billions of simultaneous motions moving in me.

A circle of lovely, quiet people

becomes the ring on my finger.

Then wind, and the thunder of rain on the way.

I have such a teacher.

Jackson Hole - so many bars, so little time!

A visit to Jackson, Wyoming, would not be complete unless one sits in a saddle at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar(a). For me, I enjoy sipping Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey(b) and just enjoying the atmosphere.

I have several friends in other states that have sat in these saddles and done the same thing. I hope, one day, that we might be able to enjoy a visit together - sitting in the saddle, sipping Jack, and pondering old times among good friends.

The bar has a fascinating history(c) and is the subject of a number of books - one of which is “The Cocktail Hour in Jackson Hole,” by Donald Hough (Norton, 1953)

a. Various and sundry global and local level adjustments to tone down the magnificence of this famous bar - otherwise the ooooo-factor would have blown out the image. As it was, hard drive space had to be increased to accommodate the scale of the work.

b. Clean up drool marks on the image made by yours truly as he was working on the final print wishing he could stop and taste the products prominently displayed in the image.

The Lloyd's building (known as the Inside-Out Building) is the home of the insurance institution Lloyd's of London. It is located on the former site of East India House in Lime Street, in London's main financial district, the City of London. The building is a leading example of radical Bowellism architecture in which the services for the building, such as ducts and lifts, are located on the exterior to maximise space in the interior. Twenty-five years after completion in 1986, the building received Grade I listing in 2011; it was the youngest structure ever to obtain this status.

I was not sure if I was allowed to wander in here and take photos so took a chance, asked the guy at the desk and he was fine with it as long as the shots were not for public use or profit. Not sure I got the best composition here but I would have to say I love all the red bricks and mixed with the modern glass. I want to try this again with my wider lens and maybe get the comp more centred, it looks a bit crooked.

Many moons ago, before the White Man came, (1141 AD to be exact) the Seneca tribe was attacked and all but exterminated. Only a chief, his squaw, a young boy, and five braves survived. They fled the region, looking for another place to grow back into a powerful Indian tribe. After traveling for three months, they finally found a peaceful place to settle (modern day Ithaca, NY). They erected their first longhouse and totem pole, and built other things that are essential to the Indian life. The chief’s wife gave birth to a little papoose, which gave the Indians hope. About six months after settling down, they were visited by an Iroquois Chieftain, who promised them peace and more squaws if they would unite with them. The chief of the Seneca agreed, and the peace pipe was passed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This story is based off of some historical fact, the Seneca tribe did exist and they did live in Ithaca, NY. They also were part of the Iroquois nation. But it is not known where they first came from or how many there were when they arrived.

This is the long awaited 2011 masterpiece created for local competitions. I have a three competition circuit to go on, and have won the first one. I have spent about $130 in parts, and about 20 hours building, rebuilding, and redesigning. Sorry for the bad background, but nothing big enough to fit this. It also had to be on a table, cause it is really fragile if you move it.

Enjoy!

Yet another reason that I adore Joel so very much. Yesterday I got a very fun piece of mail. Inside it was an awesome retro postcard and and and my very own Pocket Joel!!!! See, I think Joel is just absolutely adorable, and I've told him time and time again that I wish I could just keep him in my pocket at all times to make me smile when I need it. Well Joel actually made me a Pocket Joel!! Can you believe how awesome he is? Joel, for your information, Pocket Joel is now living inside of my purse so that he goes everywhere I go. Expect picture text proof when I go fun places. :)

It's a rainy Saturday. The kind just made for napping. But instead, Andy and I went out to lunch. We were planning on going to the Kerrytown aritsan market, but it was just too cold and rainy and somebody (coughmecough) thought it would be warm enough to not wear a jacket. Wrong. So we skipped the artisan market in favor of a very disappointing, but dry and warm, visit to the thrift shop. Now we're getting ready to head out to our best friends' house to hang with them and the kiddos. I need to take some pictures because my goddaughter is only getting cuter the older she gets. It's pretty ridiculous how smart and hilarious and adorable she is.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

It had been awhile since I was inside Varnum's Headquarters. It was sunny but cold today and shooting inside an historic structure in Valley Forge was way better than shooting outside.

I can't help render these scenes in a painterly fashion. They feel so warm in the winter.

See it this way for more detail. Thanks!

The camera seems to think it was dark inside our friends Matt & Jack's cozy farmhouse kitchen on Sunday morning, but actually it was quite sunny in there as we had our oatmeal and coffee and caught up on the two months since we'd last been to visit. We were in Connecticut for a family wedding the day before and that gave us a good excuse to stop by for "bed and breakfast". Alas we all had things to do on Sunday so the visit was short.

My favortie waders! Hard to find Industrial grade Acton Protecto Hip Waders boots. They are made of natural rubber and have the stong smell of natural rubber. The rubber can take a good shine. Like they are Industrial grade the rubber is chemical resistant and they are steel toe and thick heavy soles. The top part is made of thinner flexible rubber. Acton products are usually Made in Canada but theses are a newer version so they are Made in China but the quality is the same.
