Tattoo

Miriam M. Wynn

Like a tattoo, you are painted, printed,

On my body, all over my soul;

Like a dream, your memory remains

Inside of me, inside my skin.

My delicate soul is soaked with you:

The memory of you... is like my tattoo.

Body art is the recognition of the fact

That I belong to you,

That I am owned by you,

Forever stamped by you . . .

Like a song echoing through the valleys of my aching heart,

You are presented in me,

An angelic chorus in me,

A precious operetta in me;

Your magnum opus is what I am, you see,

A magic melody,

A helpless harmony,

An innocent tragedy--

But I am whole.

Your stamp, forever marked on my helpless skin;

My tattoo,

I am forever burning within, the

Hot scent of you, throughout my being.

My tattoo,

I love the persuasive spell of you,

The haunting passion of you,

The ferocious majesty of you . . .

My romantic melody,

I adore the thrill of you,

The stunning feel of you,

The irresistible touch of you--

And Oh! My darling, sweet tattoo,

Remember that I am yours,

For the gentle passion of the hours,

The exquisite dreams of lovers . . .

My darling angel of light,

You give me peace through hard times,

You fill me with the breath of Spring

All fresh and sweet with tender feeling.

My lovely, breathless tattoo,

I forever belong to you;

I willingly long for you,

You are my forbidden taboo . . .

For upon my hungry skin

Are you

Eternally tattooed.

Yay for more Christmas presents! ^_^

Someone posted the listing on Bratz World, and I just had to bid :D

I actually got this 4-pack for XMas in 2005 when it came out too, but I opened them all except for Cloe :P Well now I'll have all 4 MIB! ^_^

. . . of the beast.

Truly, this is the inside of a 29 metres high, 39 metres long, 12 metres wide, 250 ton three headed elephant!

Don't believe me? Look at the first comment. This is definitely one that needs to be seen large!

Hope you had a great weekend.

My good friend, Jason Mrachina, invited me to join him on a tour of the Iowa State Capitol. The capitol gives free public tours, but this was a private tour with State Senator Daryl Beall. Senator Beall turned out to be a photographer himself and he lead us on one of the most interesting tours I've ever been a part of. This image is from the main floor of the capitol building looking up into the main dome. The tour lead us to the top of the dome. We went above the marble columns at the top, above the flag and eagle suspended by guitar strings, above the clouds and eventually outside to the top of the cupola. Thank you Senator Beall for an unforgettable experience. Check out Jason's amazing images from the capitol, here.

Iowa Capitol Building

If you get a chance to visit Des Moines, you want to visit the Iowa Capitol Building. The architecture inside and outside the building rivals anything that you can find in the midwest. There are many locations within the building where you could spend hours of your time trying to find the perfect composition. The dome is an obvious focal point, but there are several sets of winding staircases, great halls with ornate columns, and small details that will keep you searching all day. I highly recommend a stop at the Iowa capitol for any photographer.

"The Rothko murals at Tate Modern are lovely in their oppression, erotic in their cruelty. These are paintings that seem to exist on the skin inside an eyelid. They are what you imagine might be the last lights, the final flickers of colour that register in a mind closing down. Or at the end of the world."

Things I ♥ Month Continues! Only one more day after today! So it seemed only fitting that I share a lifeblood's passion that has been inside me since I can remember.

Design: My Mom always says, "Work is only work if you'd rather be doing something else"...and starting at age 4 when I was coloring within the lines, to a career spent in graphics, illustration, painting, typography, interactive design and photography...I have been truly blessed to get up every day and do something I love for work.

Pictured: Over the years I've amassed 200+ books on design, type, creativity, identity & photography...this is one of the many 3-foot tall stacks beside my home office desk. :)

Got a few minutes while I was in Lansing on family business to get into the Capitol building. There is much to shoot in this great structure.

In 1872, architect Elijah E. Myers of Springfield, Illinois, was selected to design the new capitol building. His design, named "Tuebor" (which means "I will defend"), was selected. Myers used the central dome and wing design found in the United States Capitol in his design and subsequently went on to design two other state capitol buildings, the statehouses of Colorado State Capitol and Texas State Capitol, as well as the former territorial capitol building of Idaho, the most by any architect. The cornerstone was laid on October 2, 1873, with about 7,000 Lansing residents and some 30,000 to 50,000 visitors attending. Construction and finishing work were completed by late 1878. The new capitol, with 139 rooms, was dedicated at the same time as the inauguration of Governor Charles Croswell on January 1, 1879.

The Michigan State Capitol is 267 feet (81.3 m) from the ground to the tip of finial/spire above the dome. The building is 420 feet (130 m) and two inches (128 m) long and 273 feet (83 m) and 11 inches (83.4 m) wide (including approaches). The capitol occupies 1 and 1/6 acres (4,700 m²), has a perimeter of 1,520 feet (463 m). There are four stories in the building, with public entrances on the ground floor. Two grand staircases in the north and south corridors go up to the top floor.

its one of the most impressive buildings i have been inside shame its just filled with cars

I have a blue house with a blue window.

Blue is the color of all that I wear.

Blue are the streets and all the trees are too.

I have a girlfriend and she is so blue.

Blue are the people here that walk around,

Blue like my Corvette, it's standing outside.

Blue are the words I say and what I think.

Blue are the feelings that live inside me.

Day 2 in the color series. I figured I would continue with it. I'm surprisingly happy with how this turned out! Once again, another shot in the bathroom, but it had blue walls so I couldn't resist! BTW, new icon. I don't think I like it yet : / Suggestions for a better one?

music: 'human qualities' by explosions in the sky

today it was incredibly sunny and also very windy. while i sat in my room this evening doing some work, i was mesmerized by the way the trees outside of my window were thrashing about and creating these light patterns on the walls inside my flat. at the same time, i was playing the new album from 'explosions in the sky' & the music fit perfectly as i watched it unfold. this went on for almost 20 minutes!

so, please forgive the video (and the poor quality/editing) but i wanted to share it with you, and this is the best way i could do that. i hope you enjoy it.

(ps - i didn't speed up the video at all)

On a rainy afternoon in L.A., it's a ray of sunshine to be having some sushi and sashimi on the dining table.

Probably not gonna get there but a funny title just the same - they don't like me anymore and it hurts my feelings....LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Trying out my burgundy dress once more, with a nicer wig and new makeup techniques under my belt.

A year in pictures ~ Week 1 of 52

I've deciced to concentrate my efforts for the View 52 project on taking a photograph each week of a fruit or vegetable that is at the peak of its season. I'm aiming to create either a calendar or year book with the images, though that depends a bit on how they turn out! I'm also going to be consciously pushing myself to explore new styles, as I feel that some of my images have become quite similar. I'm interested in different lighting - anyone familiar with my pics will know that I tend towards the dark end of the tonal spectrum! So this week at least I thought I'd push myself to take a 'brighter' image verging on high key.

ISO 100, f2.2 @1/60s Flash fired from softbox through window from outside, with large white reflector inside to lighten shadows.

Pomegranates are at their very best at the moment, as I pass the local grocers there've been big trays of the plump red fruits stealing the attention away from some of the less seasonal offerings. How could I resist starting the New Year with these wonderful treats, each one packed full of individual little jewels. They've become popular in the last few years as a 'super-food' and there's been particular interest in their anti-oxidant properties. Either way, they are beautiful and delicious, the seeds eaten straight from the fruit, or pressed to give a juice. As a child in France my favourite drink was Grenadine, the juice of the pomegranate.

(As seen here) Exploring pain, suffering and the inner-demons we sometimes face

Do you like this?

Sometimes, the world through my lens is more colorful than reality.

Have you ever feel that way?

'During WWI the price of rubber rose dramatically. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone were concerned with this national issue. Edison planned to discover a domestic source of rubber from a latex (a white milky sap) producing plant. The three friends formed the Edison Botanic Research Corporation in 1927 and the lab was built in 1928 to support rubber research and development.

17,000 specimens of nearly 2,200 species were planted at the Fort Myers estate. Extensive research proved goldenrod, a common weed, produced latex. Edison's 1,090th patent received was connected to his rubber research, for the process of extracting rubber from plants.

Today the Laboratory is filled with original apparatus and equipment that Edison used to conduct his rubber research, as well as the cot where Edison took "catnaps" while working in the Laboratory.'

Though this little house was fun to make (and extremely time consuming), I will not be making any more in the near or far future! Once I began stuffing it, it started bulging.. I think it really needed an inside cardboard structure to keep it from losing its shape, which I really wish I'd thought of before stitching up the whole thing! Boo Hoo!!

I am a freelance photographer specializing in uncommon cat photography. I am in San Francisco. I am available to take pics of you and/or your cat!

----Patrick has a bed on my desk so he can help me with Flickr and various computer diversions. Otherwise he'll nag me to come in bed. Really. He says my bed time is 9.30 pm. Memories of the womb. He's too tall for the bed. Best way to show of his pink pads.---

Patrick passed away in 2009 and was my favorite!

Shiloh was sent away with a completely blank face. I had intended for her to be a special girl for Koko but by the time she'd returned home, all beautified and new, Koko had lost her interest in dolls (I'm hoping it's only temporary = (.

So for now, Shiloh will be part of my girls and can be stolen away by Koko whenever she wants to spend time with her.

Thank you again for another amazing girl Poison!

I reached another milestone in my transgendered journey this week. Last September I approached the cosmetics counter at Lord and Taylor trembling inside asking for a foundation to provide good coverage. The first woman I spoke with directed me to the NARS counter. At this point I thought “oh no they are freaking out”, but the young woman I met Kasey, was polite and helpful. Over the next few months I would come back to build my needed stock of make-up. Each time she would teach me how to use the cosmetics and also encourage me. We had some in depth conversations about transgendered people and the world. During this time she would extend the repeated offer of a make-over. Now back 10 months ago I never would have dreamed of going out in public and getting a make-over. But over the last year I started to get my proverbial TG wings and have stated going out regularly.

So yesterday was the day, I showed up at Kasey’s counter where she greeted me with a smile. It was surreal to be sitting there, in the make-up chair, having all my life walked by watching with envy as women were getting make over’s. The make-over took about an hour. Kasey gave me some fantastic tips, each step of the way. I have had make over’s before but they were always done by TG artists, the look was ultra glamorous. I have always wanted to find a professional look, suitable for a transgendered woman like my self. Kasey did it; I loved the sophisticated but subtle look she gave me. I took a walk around the mall and felt like a princess. You can see the picture on my Flickr page.

After the make-over I headed out to the Paula Young wig’s factory store.

The women there were friendly and helpful, after awhile I was trying on dozens of wigs off the showroom shelf and finally wound up buying three. We has some great conversations, the women were asking me all about, why, how long, and where about my dressing. They gave a complements on my outfit. It was great to talk openly about so many things I have held inside for so long. There was another woman there, a customer, who was helping me pick out wigs and helped me style them. We sat and had some deep conversations about her life, her gay brother and my transgenderism. She kind rattle me when she told me that I make a great women, and she hoped someday I would seek re-assignment, since it was obvious that I was really a women. I have always considered my self a cross-dresser and her saying this kind of messed with my mind. When I was leaving I told the SA’s, “I never thought I say this but I can’t wait to get out of these heel and pantyhose” They laughed hysterically and said “Now you sound like a woman!”

Entry for a 7 deadly sins contest

If I could just hide

The sinner inside

And keep him denied

How sweet life would be

If I could be free

From the sinner in me

[The sinner in me - Depeche Mode]

Nearly surviving has become your purpose. So why…why would you risk it. Why let them see when honesty is too sharp for your shrill, fragile desperation? Will you stop speaking. You’re foolish and naïve. Like a loud ignorant child. You think you’re something different, something interesting. You aren’t, only unripe to meaning. Every word said that you brush off as envy or cruelty is truly honesty. You’re too weak and blind to see it. You’re too oblivious to catch it. I can see it in your eyes, the way your stomach is cringing, begging everything to stop. I can see you biting your bottom lip - a nervous habit. I see the blood from the pressure of your discomfort. I know you. I see the way you chip your nail polish nervously…

I’m inside of your core. Past all the securities and that stubborn back bone. It’s a museum here. Quite beautiful if I might say so. Only because it’s empty and my voice echoes. I know you feel it, the way the script off my tongue clings to everything inside of you and how slowly you begin to disintegrate. You slowly begin to crumble. You feel it, you feel it so strongly. It hurts and it steals your breath away. You want somebody. you need somebody. But no one is home, everyone has somewhere to be and go and live. So you sit here, you feel the stability of your core abruptly begin to sway and diminish. You will fall…

And I did. I collapsed. The bridge that carried reminiscing truth was split and integrity tumbled into the shallow waters that drowned them merciless. I was dying. Dying from the inside out. Something though glowed, under the crashing waves of this suffocating pain. Perhaps a glimmer of the past but enough to uncurl my fingers and stretch them out , letting the bone reach past its skin…hoping. no, praying something out there might just reach back…
