Panorama with 6 pics, 10 mm

Here I was trying to borrow the restroom at the lobby of Levi Strauss headquarter. When I was done, I looked out and saw these beams in front of the building. I had an impulse to take a photo of the whole pattern with my film camera. This is where your jeans were originated from, folks.

This image is going to need some explanation as it does look rather odd.. It was taken during a video instillation within the 12th century Hull Minster called Ship of the Gods by the artists Heinrich and Palmer who are based based in Norway.

What you are seeing is a huge screen hung from floor to ceiling inside the minster on which was projected a 15 minute film, this is a sequence where a slightly ghostly minster itself was used in the film. The Screen itself was remarkable it was so thin you could actually see through it which creates the slightly odd effect . It was hand held but I had to ramp up the ISO to 3200

Ship of the gods was one of six light/video instillations on display in Hull last weekend with the overall title of Urban Legends and Northern Lights I went into the city centre twice and on both occasions the town was packed with people which is good. I will show a shot or two from the other instillations later on

THANKS FOR YOUR VISITING BUT CAN I ASK YOU NOT TO FAVE AN IMAGE WITHOUT ALSO MAKING A COMMENT. MANY THANKS KEITH. ANYONE MAKING MULTIPLE FAVES WITHOUT COMMENTS WILL SIMPLY BE BLOCKED

I am still learning to make good real cupcakes :P so by now I gave to my sister's birthday my cookie version :)

A look under the hood at the insides of a desktop computer, taken for the Flickr Friday group theme, "BTS (Behind the scenes)."

I put this machine together in 2009 and retired it in 2020; we'd been through a lot together.

Strobist info:

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights placed 45° CL/CR, two-feet above and three-feet away from the subject. They were fired in Manual mode @ ¼ +0.7EV power through Neewer 24" x 24" softboxes.

The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard PlusX's.

Wikipedia: Sankt Nikolai kyrka (Church of St. Nicholas), most commonly known as Storkyrkan (The Great Church) and Stockholms domkyrka (Stockholm Cathedral), is the oldest church in Gamla Stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. It is an important example of Swedish Brick Gothic. Situated next to the Royal Palace, it forms the western end of Slottsbacken, the major approach to the Royal Palace, while the streets Storkyrkobrinken, Högvaktsterrassen, and Trångsund passes north and west of it respectively. South of the church is the Stockholm Stock Exchange Building facing the Stortorget square and containing the Swedish Academy, Nobel Library, and Nobel Museum.

Finally had the urge to fix my very messy desk last night and put up my prints and the prints from some of my flickr contacts. I still need more to print. :3 And I'm thinking of putting up the lights above the prints.

Put up a few more hoops for our swatch wall. I still have a few more I need to get up.

You know your spouse *understands* your passion for photography when...

...he/she actually gets excited about finding you something that might be fun to photograph. My hubby was eating these blackberries, then suddenly he got excited: "Hey honey! Photograph these!" So, here they are!

A inveja vai te comer...

A inveja é um bicho maldoso

Que invade o portal do olhar

A inveja mata aos poucos

Sei que pode não acreditar

Tome cuidado se sente este mal

Como doença ela vai te comer

Fere tua alma e acha normal

a injustiça sempre acontecer

The above and below photos are good examples of the white balance handling from various kind of liht sources (by the camara not by me.:)) the shot was taken inside the QVB - Queen Victoria Building, Sydney, Australia. The shot was taken in very low light condition using ISO 5,000.:)

The Queen Victoria Building, or QVB, is a Victorian building in the Sydney central business district, in Australia. The Romanesque Revival architecture building is 190 metres long by 30 wide, and fills an entire city block, bounded by George, Market, York and Druitt Streets. It is currently a shopping centre, but has had a variety of roles in its life. The QVB site was once home to the George Street Markets, and was selected for the construction of a grand government building. Architect George McRae designed the QVB in a Romanesque style to employ a great number of skilled craftsmen who were out of work due to a severe recession. The building was completed in 1898 and named the Queen Victoria Building after the monarch.

A look inside along the middle aisle of the ancient tomb. The West Kennet Long Barrow is a chambered long barrow with two pairs of opposing transept chambers and a single terminal chamber used for burial. The stone burial chambers are located at one end of one of the longest barrows in Britain at 100 m. Excavations in 1859 and 1955-56 found at least 46 burials, ranging from babies to elderly persons.

The barrow is part of the Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites UNESCO World Heritage Site.

"Mirage Gstaad" by Doug Aitken

In the tradition of land-art as a reflection of the dreams and aspirations projected onto the American West, "Mirage Gstaad" presents a continually changing encounter in which subject and object, inside and outside are in constant flux. With every available surface clad in mirror, it both absorbs and reflects the landscape around in such ways that the exterior will seemingly disappear just as the interior draws the viewer into a never-ending kaleidoscope of light and reflection. As "Mirage Gstaad" pulls the landscape in and reflects it back out, this classic one-story suburban house becomes a framing device, a perceptual echo-chamber endlessly bouncing between the dream of nature as pure uninhabited state and the pursuit of its conquest. Situated against the backdrop of Videmanette in Gstaad, "Mirage Gstaad" will bring the idea of the Manifest Destiny and the American West into contact with the European landscape and the tradition of the sublime.

The freckled, rough texture of my roof is comforting as I watch the sun melt into the horizon. In the distant I see the moon, dim but still there as it shares the sky with that burning ball of heat.

You’re like the moon. Your chill, your icy familiarity. Your blinding light. I’m kind of like the sun. My hot tempered blood coursing through my sarcastic script. Such opposites but we complete each other, we make the world thrive. Yet as I set you rise and we are constantly chasing the impossible. I’m dying for your soft voice singing the melody that only space can hold so delicately. It makes my spine bend and twist as I fall back, fall down, fall into. Words can’t explain it but everything inside of me aches for you. It aches for everything it will never have.

But then there’s a moment. That moment where I’m fading and you’re growing…it’s the moment where we share the sky. The miles traces shaded delusions across this empty in-between but the stars shed their colours before finding their lights. They paint the sky streaks of scarlet and bands of sapphire with the slightest tint of gold. The colours amuse our rough, lonely skin and suddenly through them we’re attached. Through them we have meaning. I taste beauty and I see truth. I teach you about the way the world feels and you teach me about the way the shooting stars breathe. It’s bliss. It’s living. It’s the closest to heaven either of us can reach…yet it never lasts long enough. My time is up and your friends begin to shine. I leave discreetly as the colours unwrap us and fade into the black night. It’s your turn to teach the world something…and it’s my turn to dream in this sleepy hopefulness that maybe tomorrow we’ll balance the sky together again. It’s unlikely but I can’t help but wish. And maybe next time I’ll press my burning lips against your cool, uneven surface and wonder as I disappear, if tonight you’ll follow me into the dark or if the world will be the host of an unmistakeably full moon.

The sunsets and my mind is back in this body. I feel myself fall and all I can do is wish that the night will catch me as the full moon sings its haunting lullaby.

Grazie 1000

I'm trying to find a way to make my Flickr presence more useful and productive. For this reason I'm trying an experiment. I ask to who will comment this/these photo/s to be SINCERE as much as possible and to comment like this:

What I like: bla bla bla

What I dislike: Bla bla bla

I can ensure that, in the limit of the time I will dedicate to flickr, I'll comment in the same way your photos.

Obviously you're free to comment in any other ways and do not intend my initiative as to be "superior". I'm convinced that to know what other think about our photos hel us to photographically grow

I am absolutely crazy about different colours, so this bag was a real joy to crochet.

Oliver Cromwell reportedly told portrait artist Sir Peter Lely - "I desire you would use all your skill to paint my picture truly like me, and not flatter me at all; but remark all these roughnesses, pimples, warts and everything as you see me."

I would have asked for the exact opposite! But this IS who I am - warts and all ;-)
