Common darter dragonfly in the garden. Natural light

Well I went looking for the tiny bees I found in the park the other day, couldn't see them anywhere, but I did find this pretty fly that alighted on a leaf for a few seconds for me to catch a shot. It is so shiny my outline is reflected in the blue of its back.....also, the blue sky, the green behind me, not very clear I know but still that is what it is!...hope someone can ID it. Little yellow face and great red eyes......PS. Wishing everybody a really Happy Christmas and New Year Season from our house to yours!!!

Anax imperator is the largest dragonfly in Britain, commonly known as Emperor.

In Europe it is called Blue Emperor

Originally it was an African species, which has spread to Europe as humans once did.

Taken during my vacation last July, using the Canon 100-400mm IS lens

Very little post processing; cropped, increased blacks, and presence, done!
