This is an insect that attacked me when I was in a prairie. I escaped it and while it was sitting peacefully I took this picture. I still have no clue what it is though. I looks like a cross between a mosquito and a bee to me.

The flower I thought was really pretty too as it seems to be a flower that has flowers growing on it in the center.

None of the flies (or other insects) in my photos are frozen or dead. None have been manually 'posed'. All are photographed alive and well in their natural environment, unless they are being killed or eaten by another insect in the photo.

Found in the northwestern part of Washington state, USA.

Not sure which sawflies these are but there were lots of them, mostly just orange flashes amongst the reeds. TQ173692

We saw quite a few of these insects when we were on holiday in Boa Vista, Cape Verde, I have tried to find out what it is, but unfortunately without success. Can anyone ID it please?

I was surprised because dragonfly's wing was such beautiful.

It has some very fine pattern though I did not notice it when dragonfly's photograph is taken.
