Fine gauge wire is shaped into a wing and then covered and attached to two layers of fabric (organza and organdie) using tiny overcast stitches and a single strand of thread. Veins are then added using blending filament thread.

when I first began shooting insects with a macro lens, I was surprised to see all the hairy details. Some bugs are so hairy it could almost be described as fur.

I don't know the names but I am very happy to share these flicks..Just as it is. No cropping, no photoshop, no tempering at all. All shot on manual settings. Made my day..

so I'm trying to learn about dragonflies, hawkers, skimmers, chasers, darters etc. but with little success. I have no idea what this is, if anyone can help, that would be much appreciated.

During a spot of gardening this ladybird made an appearance climbing up to the top of a pile of dandelions, taking flight for a second, crashing, then repeating the process. It didn't seem to be flying well and was maybe getting it's skills back after hibernation.

Dicerca tenebrosa, Buprestidae. 0.5 e. of Jackson Lake, Jackson County, Ohio. On telephone pole.

Insect on sidewalk. Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in middle of Kansas.

Von unten schaut ein Schwefelkäfer zu.

 

Roter Weichkäfer - Rhagonycha fulva

 

Rote Weichkäfer werden 7 bis 10 Millimeter lang. Sie sind fast am ganzen Körper rotgelb gefärbt, nur die hinteren Enden der Deckflügel sind dunkel. Sie leben auf Feldern, Wiesen und in Gärten, insbesondere auf Doldenblütlern. (wikipedia)

Seen in Renee's Garden. Eastern Tiger Swallowtails.

This tiny moth nicely posed on a dewy leaf early this morning

Swallowtails visit my butterfly bush daily but his is the first really perfect specimen I have seen. Most have defects, IE: broken tails, damaged wings, etc!

 

The 7spot decided to have a rest on top of this dead wood stump
