Kärrblomflugor (Helophilus) är ett släkte i familjen blomflugor.

Många blomflugor i detta släkte är stora och iögonfallande, upp till 17 millimeter långa. De har en svart grundfärg med artspecifika gula parfläckar på bakkroppen. Behåringen är kort. Många, till exempel alla i Sverige förekommande arter, har tydliga gula eller gråaktiga strimmor på ryggskölden. Längd 9 till 17 millimeter.

Evolution must be exciting.

These are the only bugs I see these days so I´m getting a lot of practice getting shots of them. This is a 4 shot stack. Very strange this year, usually see lots of springtails at this time, and I have´nt seen one for ages.

Found a rather groggy wasp queen yesterday catching some sun on a camelia leaf - must have just come out of hibernation.

Here's an attractive looking fly that landed on a hydrangea flower this morning as I was lost in my macro world... Who knew a fly could be so beautiful!
