Punaise méditerranéenne qui a migré jusqu’en Europe centrale et même plus au nord à la faveur du changement climatique. Les adultes sont noir et rouge et leurs ailes ont des reflets argentés. Les larves sont aptères et rouge vif. Leurs plantes hôtes sont les les mauves, les hibiscus et les lavatères. Plus au nord, on les trouve sur les tilleuls où elles se rassemblent en grand nombre pour hiverner à l’état adulte. Celle-ci a été observée sur Viburnum tinus.

 

A Mediterranean bug that has migrated to Central Europe and even further north due to climate change. Adults are black and red with silvery wings. The larvae are wingless and bright red. Their host plants are mallows, hibiscus and lavatera. Further north, they are found on lime trees, where they gather in large numbers to overwinter as adults. This one was observed on Viburnum tinus.

I had been going to the same spot for the last 2 weekends trying to shoot this Moth, somehow, it flaps the wings so fast that I had to use such high shutter speed, resulting in high ISO, which creates noise and lack of saturated colors. I may have to visit the Moth again. I was just not happy with the result.

 

It seems to be the butterfly stroke used in swimming.

The long-tailed skipper (Urbanus proteus) is a spread-winged skipper butterfly found throughout tropical and subtropical South America, south to Argentina and north into the southern part of the United States of America. It cannot live in areas with prolonged frost. It is a showy butterfly, with wings of light brown tinted with iridescent blue, and two long tails extending from the hindwings. The robust body is light blue dorsally. It has a large head, prominent eyes, and a wingspan between 4.5 and 6 centimeters. It is a migratory species.
