Description: Resembles Large White, but spot on male forewing is more prominent. Wingspan: 50mm. Flight time: May and August/September. Two broods but partial third brood possible. Foodplant: Cultivated and wild members of the cabbage family among others. Habitat: Wherever larval foodplants and flowers occur. Distribution: Throughout Ireland.
Habitat: The Small White like the Large White is widespread and common especially in gardens and waste ground.
Two or three broods occur annually.
Flight Time: April and May
July and early August

Hibernation: Overwinters as a pupa.
Numbers are often increased by immigration.
The Small White is similar to the Green-veined White, however the undersides are different. The underside of the Small White is yellow with a light grey dusting.
This very common species frequents meadows, hedgerows and gardens.
